Samsung yesterday took the wraps off four new devices, including additional members of its Omnia family and its new Jet smartphone.

The new Omnia line-up, the Omnia II (I8000), OmniaPRO (B7610) and the OmniaLITE (B7300), all have a distinct business flavour but also offer enterainment features for when users aren’t working or need to switch off.

In addition, users of all three new Omnia devices will be able to upgrade their handsets to the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system when it becomes available.

Samsung claims the Omnia II is perfect for smartphone users who want an “enhanced and convenient multimedia experience”. The Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional handset boasts a more responsive full touch 3.7in AMOLED display and HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi connectivity. It comes with up to 48GB memory.

The OmniaPRO is being positioned more as a work/life balance enabler by Samsung as it features separate modes for both business and fun.

With HSDPA and Wi-Fi and Opera 9.5 onboard, in addition to support for multiple push email accounts and Microsoft Office applications, the OmniaPRO makes it easy for business users to work on the move. While fun elements such as a five megapixel camera with capture tools and A-GPS add another level of appeal to the device.

Lastly, the OmniaLITE supports business and multimedia features wrapped up in an easy to use interface, according to Samsung. Microsoft Office and push email support is onboard in addition to a three megapixel camera, A-GPS and multi-codec video viewing.
