Hi
I'm looking into buying the C905(a/i). I'm living in the United states and a previous thread told me that if I have At&T and live in the US I should get the c905a rather than the c905i because the data transfer speed is a lot faster.

I've looked everywhere and cannot find the C905a in stock anywhere for online vendors, and it is not even listed on the AT&T website nor the US version of sonystyle.com. Is this because it isn't yet released? I've also read on this forum that it passed FCC in 2008 and was expected to be released here in the US a few weeks afterwords, but this has yet to happen. Could the C905a be in development hell and never be released?? In that case should I wait a little longer or should I get the C905i? That would also work in the US for at&T, correct?

At this point wait for the "a" version. I've had the "i" since January and I'm happy I got it then or I'd still be waiting. Seeing as that the "a" just became available on Roger's in Canada I don't feel it should be too much longer till it is released. Then again it's Sony Ericsson America so who knows? Data transfer is slow with "i", not awful, just really slowww. The WiFi makes up for it when available. (my wifi isn't working ATM though, possibly a corrupt SIM card) I'd wait for the "a" if I were you.

Thank you for the response. I know there's no way you would know but if you guessed, would you say it would come out in America within 2 months? Is there any way I can find out? Also, how's the phone? I hope it lives up to my expectations!

Keep an eye on ebay.
Since it's out in Canada, ebay should get some phones soon enough.
Debranding is a simple process, so it should work fine on any US GSM carrier!

I couldn't really tell you when it'll be released. SE America is REALLY behind compared to their European counterparts. Be careful debranding the "a" version and be sure not to install any "i" version firmwares. Phone will not function properly. Not sure if there are too many, if any "a" firmwares at the moment that are de-branded. Could be completely wrong on this though. If there are "a" firmwares there aren't many....

That's great news!
Could anyone tell me what debranding is? And how to do it?
