Hi,
Due to several issues with the C905, I am now upgrading to the W995. The only problem is that all my previous phones have been from Carphone Warehouse, and have been unlocked and debranded. I have now had to order from Phones4U, and I've heard that their phones are branded and/or locked.

The handset I'm getting is the W995, and it's on an Orange contract. I'm guessing that the handset itself will have Orange branding on it, and possibly the firmware itself. In any case, I'm assuming that it will also be locked to Orange. If anyone else has bought a W995 on Orange from Phones4U and knows otherwise, please let me know!

Failing that, I would need to unlock it, and would like to debrand it as well. I can look into the phone unlocking, however if anyone has any suggestions they would be welcomed as well.

I have been looking at XS++, and have seen that it can sometimes debrand handsets. I don't know much about it, as you can probably tell. I have the XS++ software and the firmware from here (http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=186179#post2684352). Can anyone tell me if this is suitable, or if there is a better way to debrand the handset?

Any and all advise would be welcomed!

Also, I've come across this website (http://www.aerix-group.com/default.aspx?cms.page=index) which claims to offer free unlocking for A2 Sony Ericssons, however it does not have the W995 listed. Does anyone know if it is definitely an A2, and if (in their opinion) setting it to a C905 would still work correctly? Or is it likely that the W995 firmware is too different from the C905?

It's a DB3210 platform(A2).
You can try aerix, but remember there are complaints about the battery life going down.
We also have the facility to unlock this using CSCA server.

Aerix cannot unlock the W995.
We now have 2 options for unlocking this phone.

1. By cable (instant)
2. Code (max 24 hrs)

I unlocked my W995 using ultimate unlocker software. It requires a simple download which is found download...

Unlock was simple and completed in under a min. The debranding can be done free with a SEUS hack i believe for A2 phones?

@DjFlegg: the xs++ is for DB20xx phones. The W995 is a DB3210. You must use the A2 file access & flasher tool.

If you are looking to unlock the phone, then XS++ does not support it.

Hi Lads,

Recently purchased a W995 on Orange.. It obviously was locked and branded.. I unlocked the phone, all was good and worked fine.. I then de-branded the handset and updated with SEUS.. Now I get "No network coverage" I'm in Ireland, this was originally a UK Orange handset.. Any Ideas??

Cheers in advance

Dan
