I have just spoken to SE uk and they have told me that it is covered if it goes wrong but apparantly the p800s are made for different worldwide markets and if a component goes wrong with my p800 that I bought in Bahrain and that component is specifically manufactured for that country, then it will have to be returned to the country of purchase to be repaired. Does this make sense to anybody? |

yes they said it would be repaired in the uk regardless of where i bought it AS LONG as the part that has gone wrong is the same as the one fitted in a UK p800. Otherwise it has to go back to country of origin to be repaird by the local SE repair centre |

i have an import & i realy don`t think many (if any) of the bits are different. but if they want to send it away it`s better than nothing. by the way t68`s were made all over the world & mixed up when sold (people have malasian ones in uk, swedish ones in Malaisia, Malasian ones in Sweden) a right old mix. so i recon SE are just protecting themselves incase of a major failing on all p800`s. |

If you read the P800 manual which you can download from SE, it states that any EU phone can be serviced in ANY EU country where the phone is available.
Basically when it becomes available in your country, you will have the same warranty as anyone else, but until it becomes available you will be a bit limited especially parts wise, firmware updates should be ok.

Thanks for the advice,
i went out and bought it, love it. All I need now is a third party T9-a-like for those quick text message replies that my friends expect from me these days!! |

@bloomp, use the qwerty keyboard i find it very fast for sms,
@000, alot of imports are not from europe (philappines) it is fairly well known that european phones are all covered, but loads of non european p800`s are around.& the manual makes no mention of these, hence my earlier post. |

The agent for SE in Bahrain is Fakhro Electronics.. Go to their showroom in Exhibition Avenue and get it from there.. Don't get it from ANY other shop because Fakhro are the official agent.. if anything goes wrong you get a one year warranty and can take the phone to the service center in Sitra. By the way, last time I checked the price was 300 Dinars (£500 not £600 as you mentioned)

I bought it in Geant. The point I was trying to make wasn't how to get it serviced in Bahrain but will I be able to get it serviced by SE when I return home to the UK next month.
I paid 298 dinar for it. Which you are right is about £500. I was going by my hotel exchange rate which is terrible. 1 pound = 2 dinars.
Everything appears to be fine with the phone, all the settings are there for the uk so i am happy!! |
