Hey guys
Cannot setup the C905 with email, keep getting syntax error, I can receive email into my inbox but not able to send.
have used the following settings:
Here are the settings:
User name: Your Windows Live ID (full email address), for example yourname@live.co.uk
password: Your password
Incoming Server: pop3.live.co.uk
Port: 995
Encryption: SSL
Outgoing Server: smtp.live.co.uk
Port: 25 or 587
Encryption: SSL
Not sure what is happening but its annoying me.
Any ideas anyone? |

You mentioned previously that your provider is T-Mobile. Have you contacted them about the problem? |

I tried this today on my W705. Same problem. Tried ports 25, 587 and 465 (the one Gmail SMTP uses). The send timed out every time, but receive was OK.
It would seem like there is a problem somewhere in the sytem. I would suggest it is with Windows Live as my Gmail account works fine sending, and receiving POP3 & IMAP.

It won't be T-Mobile. The same thing happens if I connect using WiFi through my ADSL connection. So it must be something the Windows Live SMTP server doesn't like about the setup in the phone.
I set the same thing up in Outlook 2003. That worked OK. |

I guess the only work around is to use your Gmail SMTP server instead of Windows Live. You should still use your Windows Live email address, but you will need to use your Gmail logon details when setting up SMTP.
I've just tried it and it works OK. Other than that, I don't know what else you can do. |

Had something alike on my K810 with my local e-mail account in the netherlands.
changed smtp for outgoing server to pop and had my outgoing mail working (although it should have been smtp according to the provider).
No clue if it's going to help but easy to try....
