For a while now I've been having problems with my K800i. At first many of the menu item names had become replaced with items like F1:3254. At some point it became unusable and I upgraded the firmware on it. All seemed well until a few days later when the earpiece stopped working during calls.

I repeated several times with the same result and eventually flashed back to the original firmware. Things were alot better at first, then one day I turned my phone on and just got random letters all over the screen. Had to re-flash again but now I can only have about 20 SMS messages on the phone before it says the memory is full (and won't even let me delete them sometimes), and the ringtones stored in internal memory have disappeared!

I'm assuming the flash inside my phone is screwed and keeps corrupting at random? Does this sound familiar to anyone, a known problem maybe?

I've pretty much made up my mind to sell this phone and move on to something new, but I'm wandering if there is anything else I can try to at least get the phone to work reliably as a spare or so that I can sell it 2nd hand.

R8BF003 is the one I tried first (and I tried more than once). I got the problem of no audio in the earpiece when making calls.

I went back through a few different ones and the only one that allowed the phone to work normally was the original (R1KG001). But as I said the phone eventually gets corrupted in some way and stops working so I'm assuming its a hardware fault now.

If it were a hardware issue, then surely R1KJ firmware would be result in a loss of earpiece function also. Reflash to R8BF, make sure you get the correct FS and custpack with it, then test the earpiece with the 'Service Menu'.
