Hi all,

I have a question : right now i have a k800i. For 17 months now this phone has given me a real load of good pictures. But after upgrading my 15 inch monitor to a 22 inch monitor is just can't help but notice it could use an upgrade

Reason i'm still doubting my purchase: of all the pictures i've seen there are very little pictures taken with c905 in low light with flash... of people (i've seen a lot of quality fruit though ). Thing is I love to take pictures on a night out (bar, club, ...) so i really need a xenon flash. Right now with my k800i i put the focus on infinite to take pictures (i love to take pictures by surprise ). But that's also the weak point: k800i takes way to long to get a focus in low light so focus is 90% time better with focus on infinite.

To cut it down:
- How long does the c905 take to focus in (near) darkness?
- Does it manage to get focus right when camera is shaken a bit (can't stand completely still at night )
- If focus is set on infinitive and subject is 1 meter away, will c905 have a sharper picture than k800i because of the 8mp ?
- maybe somebody can post some images of people taken in low light with xenon flash?

It's really a shame there are so few cellphones with xenon, and when there is a xenon sometimes its range is 1 meter (like renoir). Thanks for reading, looking forward to some good opinions from experienced SE-people

Also note that the C905 also has a LED, which when turned on, accompanies the auto-focus, if you see what I mean, so when you are focusing a light comes on to help it focus. Awesome huh?

hi there..
i'd definately vouch for the c905...
it'll give much amazing results than your k800i
in daylight, focus time is much same, but pictures are better...
depends on what device you are going to view the picture and in what resolution
also the c905 performs awesome in low light
it has a powerful xenon flash and LED and 8mp and New sensor and Manual ISO...
and i'd definately ask you to buy it...
it'll help you get some ''cool'' shots in a pub!

but share the pictures here too mate!!!
cheers!

The focus in the newer se phones seems faster and more accurate than the older phones, the actual af sytem is better, focusing time also depends on shutter speed at a shutter speed of 1/8 the viewfinder and autofocus is running at around 8fps, k800 and c905 use roughly the same shutter speeds. Yes the c905 will focus slighty quicker.
shaking the phone a little when focusing doesn't matter too much longs you dont start focusing on something then move the camera so much its pointing somewhere else.
On a cameraphone more megapixels just degrades the quaility, its the lens setup aperture and focal lengh that will make the difference of how sharp the pic looks 1m away, since the k800 and c905 lenses are almost the same you wont notice any difference but the k800 is slighty more wideangle than the c905.
The k800 pics should look fine on a 22inch screen the 3.2 megapixels are good for up to a 32inch screen.
The k800's low-light pics do tend to look a bit noisey and smeary but thats nothing to the c905s pics even the c905s daylight pics lack a huge amount of detail they look very flat and smearey, in lower light i wouldnt expect anything better than the k800 , the c905s flash is a little more powerful than k800s thats the only advantage it has, resized down on your to 2.2megapixels for your monitor the c905s pics may look a better having 8 megapixel res resized down to 2.2 will look a little better than 3.2 resized down to 2.2, at full 8mp res the c905 pics are dreadful and the k800 at 3.2mp res will look alot nicer.

the prototype of the c905 had better details than the released firmware
number1, which firmware are you using?
is it the latest one?
if yes, then what are the differences in the camera pics? if any?

k....
the pics from c905 arent that bad as you make them out to be...
when the first c905 hit the markets, not the prototype, the cam module was real bad...
but this time around they have fixed some issues...
but the damage is done...
c905 has got someting of a bad name...
sad SE

I honestly have a great time with the c905. I think it works pretty well in low-light and no-light conditions. If you're going to be out partying at night in the dark, just keep it on full auto with flash on, or even document mode, and it'll work like a charm. And about blurriness? Well, at night I assume you'd use flash, and with that there's barely any chance of blurriness unless its not focused. There's no blurriness with the flash because of motion.

Honestly, it's all about getting to know the camera and tweaking its settings. It's very easy to take bad pictures, so it'll take some time, but trust me, it's worth it in the end.

thanks all for your opinions!

There is one more problem: i don't have a lot of money (student ) so i can only afford a c905 from ebay (got my k800i from there too). Problem is offcourse warranty. My primary concern is this :when upgrading firmware it should go right otherwise i lost a lot of money... is there really so much difference between photo quality concerning firmware?

if updating with SEUS it will keep the same languages. BUT the data(contacts, images, etc) will be lost. it will tell you to back up first though.
