Time to replace my beloved D750, but with what? |

hello,
well the time has finally come...
after nearly three years of use my beloved D750 is nearly dead. ya, she still works, but the camera doesnt, she often crashes, and, well i feel that the time is about right. i have been waiting for a new phone that just grabs my attention and says Ï am the ONE" but it hasnt happened just yet.
im looking for something mid range, like T700, C510, C702 etc...
so what did i use on my current? camera when it worked, it was easier then carring around pen and a paper for notes, the photo LED makes for a usable flashlight (more then a accessorey for the camera). never figured out the music side of it, nor any other features.
im looking for something mid range. i travel alot (i mean alot) so maps on the go would be good, i look after my gear, to be honest, as much as i like messing around with computers, i know so little about mobile phones.
interested in some suggestions.
ps.. years back when i first got my D750 i downloaded a free theme from this site, its there any way possible to (mod it) to be used on my new phone? would like it very much.... |

C510 would be a great replacement. HSPA, 3.2MP Autofocus camera with flash, nice QVGA Screen, etc.

C702 is a nice phone too, it has aGPS for your maps, and has LEDs to use as flashlight, and a big QVGA screen, but it's a little big.

I'd say the C510 is quite a good replacement for your D750. Regarding your themes, you could try renaming it to a .zip file and extracting the images. Then, use a picture editing software to resize them to fit the resolution required by the newer themes. You can find out the exact dimensions by selecting your new phone model in the SE Theme Creator. |

i saw several W902 (Swedish second-hand web) only 2-3 weeks old (some of them was barely used), for LESS money then a new c702/C510. (including the 2-year warranty of course)
now that's how you should do business

just the other day, i saw one in the shop, online it said two colors, but the shop had three?? i like the C510, but i wonder how long the little slide cover for the camera will last before it craps out... but so far it has been the best looking one so far that has cought me eye..

this the first one (before the C510 came out) that caught my eye, happened to chat a girl up one night in the bar, she had one, phone looked to be in good nick, but the slide thing for the camera didnt slide very well, looked to be a dodgy design. but the features look appealing.
deluded, when i buy a new phone, i hope you dont mind, if ask you to explain what you had said in simpler english.

as i live in hong kong (its not on the SE hk web site) i just happened to look at SE's UK site and saw the W902, mmmm. now i know nothing about phones, but that one caught my eye. i aksed a guy in the shop, but said it was an old model, will have to go to another district to find it, but it looked interesting.
so far, im sort of leaning towards the C510. it seems to have most of what i think i might like. but nearly anything will be better then my D750i.
is having aGPS as a phone function, really worht it?
ps. is there a way to make quote codes work? ie {QUOTE}{/QUOTE} (had to change the brackets from [] to {} so you could seem them) |

I had a C702, the slider was fine just a little loose but felt it would last for at least a year. The internal gps is weak and is 10-20 meters out, ok for messing about with and givening you a rough idea where you are, for serious navigation your need a external receiver. |

@Pine Sol, no worries, just let me know when you've got your new phone. Or just send me your theme and I'll see what I can do for you.

C510 which i have is a reliable solid phone and well built. The camera cover is fine very solid and made of metal too very easy to open. Mine has not come lose. Yet lol. C702 i hear is a little slow compared to c510 but i could be wrong. T700 is another great option i actually prefer the design of the t700 myself wish i had got it now though i hate the horrible red one on O2 |

After reading all posts here, I still think that the C510 might be the best choice for you.

have spent a night trolling through the chinese web sites, so know i have an idea of what sort of a price it might cost, time to head off to the whole sale shops to see what can be had. a C510 costs E133, W902 costs E216. will head out this weekend.
cheers to everyone....
any thoughts on the W715? |
