Being the heir of Android-powered HTC G1 (Dream), HTC Magic has a lot to prove in order to live up to its predecessor’s reputation. From Dream to Magic, the Google Android handsets by HTC seem to tell the world by their names that they are beyond ordinary. Is HTC Magic this fantastical and enchanting? Let’s see what magical tricks it has in its pocket.

Together with the HTC Magic phone, the package contains a battery, a charger, a handsfree headset, a USB cable, a pouch and a User’s guide.

Inherited from HTC G1 (Dream) is the 3.2” HVGA widescreen, as dazzling as always. Discarding the slide-open full QWERTY keyboard on Dream, HTC Magic becomes a lighter phone to carry around.

You have a choice between smart black and creamy white, both looking modern and chic.

You can find an array of function keys (Home, Menu, Back, and Search) on the panel. In the middle of them lays the Trackball which allows 360-degree scrolling that lets you speedily navigate through applications or any webpage.

You can find the USB/headset socket at the bottom of the phone.

This is a view of the back. The plastic case is so refined that it has sheen on it. The rounded edge has a polishing touch. The Google logo kind of kills it though. We can also find the 3.2MP camera here. It is not a very outstanding attribute for a phone on this price level.

MicroSD slot is beneath the back cover.

The menu page is nothing special but neatly arranged. You can customize up to 8 widgets for your favorite applications and updates and put them on the desktop for quick access.

HTC Magic is equipped with HSDPA/WCDMA, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and WiFi to ensure the smoothest connection.

The Google phone is empowered with access to the amazing Google services. Here in the picture shows the Youtube page of Plemix. The Google search bar is always on the main page for a convenient look-up. Google Talk, Google Maps with street view are also on board to connect you with the world.

From Android Market, you can constantly find the most to-date applications and games for download. The pre-installed Microsoft Exchange Server provides synchronization for email, calendar and contacts and multiple mailbox support. HTC magic is a fun and handsome phone that keeps up with the trend.
