I have been given a K850i by a family member. The first thing I did was a factory reset and the used the SE Update utility to update to software R1FA035 which is a non branded version.

The phone itself runs great. The only problem I am having is with the camera. Sometimes when I take a picture the flash goes off but my pictures is totally black. Its almost like the flash is going off at the wrong time?

Is there any way to fix this? have seen other camera drivers available but I am very happy with the current colours and quality that my cam produces so only want the bug fixed.

According to the Sony Ericsson update software I have the latest version on my phone is this correct? or is there another way of fixing the problem?

Thanks in advance

I have that problem few months ago while using a very old firmware. I thinked that the problem with that firmware was that the flash was not 'in-sync' with the shutter.
But since R1FA035, I never had that problem again (since july 2008).
So, I suggest you to flash your phone again with R1FA035 through SEUS (Update Service) and clean the camera light sensor (that little hole just below the xenon flash).
You might also consider bringing your phone to the service center.

You must place your hand so it doesn't touch the whole back of the phone..

Only grab the side of the phone, did you already tried that?

Try to close a small hole below a xenon flash with your finger and take a picture... It will be blackened..
