I just got a W705 a couple of days ago.

I've noticed that the screen fades in and out constantly. Just goes from dark to light to dark etc etc. Incredibly annoying.

I think it's a software problem - I updated the firmware with SEUS today. Anybody else have this problem? Any point taking the phone back, or should I just wait for a firmware update?

its due to the light sensor. In the dark the screen goes dark, and in the light the screen goes light.

Lol no nothing wrong there its the light sensor to save battery power. It goes dimmer in low light to minimse glare with it being too bright & goes brighter outside so you can see it better!!!! I find them annoying but its not a fault

Ah right. Thanks for the replies.

It annoys the crap out of me. There should at least be an option to turn it off.

Hello.Even i have just bought a W705 and yes its light sensor is well over sensitive although it does a good job outside but then i think even my phone has the bug.For eg when typing messages when u have to spell a word , the screen reduces its brightens for no reason and then when u are done spelling the word it comes back to its original brightness. Also i would like to ask you one more question as you own a w705.While playing music in the music player, when you rotate the phone horizontally then when you increase the volume, there is no indication of this happening. But when you hold it vertically and then increase the volume, the volume bar shoes you what volume bar you are on.Is this a bug only in my phone or is it there in yours too or is it a bug at all?

No it's not a bug. It doesn't reduce the brightness. It's just visual enhancement catching your attention so it's easier for you to choose a word from the list.

Again, not a bug. No volume bar is shown in horizontal mode.
