How to find out if the memory card (Sandish Micro M2 4GB) is fake (I can check with my phone, too) |
White Girl Joined: Nov 02, 2008 Posts: 88 PM |
So I'm considering to buy Sandisk Micro M2 4GB memory card for my Sony Ericsson G900 (Symbian UIQv3), and they will deliver it when I order it.
I do have a right to open and check with my phone, to see if I like it.
I want to verify if it's a real memory card, but how can I do that?
Thank you. Regard. |

an original memory card is very fast compared to a fake one.
data is easily corrupted on a fake card.......
also, the fake card is of cheap quality, the edges will come off easily, you feel that the card will break anytime.....
also, once filled with data, the fake card takes a lot of time to boot up.... while an original card will boot up quickly.....
do not go no the packaging, sometimes the fake packaging is so kool, u'll believe its real
a fake never comes with warranty or guaranty.
a real one comes with them.....
also fake is lot cheaper than original
hope all this helps!

How do you check if the file is corrupted on memory card? I'm using Sony Ericsson G900, and possible it's similar with sony ericsson's dumbphone too. |

a file is corrupted.....
when suddenly the music you downloaded into your phone makes screeching noises or wont play at all
or photo's and videos just disappear
or they cannot be viewed at all
most important factor is price
here,in india an fake 2gb can be brought for as low as 8$!!!!!!!!
while in reality, it is definately 5times that!!!!
also, as i said, warranty/guarantee and also build quality
i suggest, you first check the transfer rates of a real m2 card in your phone before buying another one... maybe a friends m2??
also not the build quality.....

Also, make some random files, and put in in a winrar file that will only just fit on the memory card. Copy the file to the memory stick, and then copy it back to your computer and unrar it and the original one. If the one from the memory stick gives an error, most likely you got a fake one

Hi aqua, nope that's normal, there's usually a part of the memory card that's preallocated to system files after formatting. 1.8gb out of the nominal 2gb is normal. |

Also a fake card might only have 25% of the total storage space really available, so a 8GB card becomes a 1.8GB card.

I had problems with fake sony m2 once. When using my old K800 it happened several times the data to get corrupted by itself and also some pictures taken with the camera couldn't be completely removed from the phone when transfering to pc for e.g. which resulted in messy photos in the future. It may happen also songs to be skipping during playback if they are stored on a fake m2 card.

I bought a Sony M2 4GB for the G900. The package says it was preloaded with 007 Quantum of Solace contents. But i never got to see them because the girl who sold the card formatted it from the G900 before i can say NO!! |

in my experiences, not true.
data is easily corrupted on a fake card.......
again, im my experiences, i have never ever had this type of a problem.
also, the fake card is of cheap quality, the edges will come off easily, you feel that the card will break anytime.....
makes me think that indian fake stuff is really horrible, the fake stuff coming out of china, or at least the stuff that i have seen first hand is far from cheap or flimsy...
also, once filled with data, the fake card takes a lot of time to boot up....while an original card will boot up quickly.....
again i have found this to be not true. on my PSP i used an original 1GB Pro Dou, it was a driving game, for some reason it would get serious lag on some fast spots with alot of traffic. i tried a fake 2GB micro SD with a fake adapter, and no lag what so ever, it was ever so smoothe. so maybe you have had these sorts of problems, but i have never...
a fake never comes with warranty or guaranty.
depends where you buy them, in the past when i have bought them, there in the shop, they are more then willing to show the size and say if it wasnt true they would change them "no questions", i have never ever had a problem.
also fake is lot cheaper than original
not necessairly true, cheaper yes, "lots"... if its alot cheaper then the original than makes me think your getting shafted, but (again in my experiences) yes, the fake ones are cheaper, enough to make you think which ones to buy.

while in reality, it is definately 5times that!!!!
but thats not fair to say, most decent things of quality are expensive in india (or at least thats the way it was for those four months i was working in mumbai, locally made stuff was utter rubbish, anything imported was f''ing expensive)

is this your experince or what you have heard? again, i have never found this to be true.
i do and have lived in souther china for more then a decade, fakes are more common then people think.
again, just my 2 cents...

thanks for the insight...
well, we all here just sharing our experiences.
small clarification for you, these goods arent made in india, they are smuggled in from china and singapore.
two, i have 2 m2 cards, of 2gb.
one fake, one original
the original one is, well original
and the fake one has the issues like i described out for you...
my friend had a 1gb fake and he didnt have any problem, apart from the cheap make...
if you compare the make-quality, you can discriminate the fake card,,,
also, the fake card HAS slower speed than original.
just that sometimes you may not get slower speeds from start... or the difference may not be noticable,,,
too good if you get a good fake card#
too bad if you get a bad dake card#
cheers!
