I couldn't see this discussed previously, but I hope I am not covering old ground.

My problem is with transferring sound recordings from my phone. This works fine if the recording is one I have made using the "Sound Recorder" feature (i.e. while not in a call). I can transfer these to my PC no probs.

However, I am unable to transfer sound recordings that I have made during a phone conversation. These appear with a small 'mobile' icon in the menu, and seem to transfer fine via IR on the phone's end. However, the items just do not appear on my PC, despite telling me they were transferred.

Anyway, just a long-winded way of asking - is it possible to transfer recordings of phone conversations to a PC or is there a privacy feature preventing this from happening?

I have transferred recordings made from my T68i whilst on and whilst off the phone! I have not had any problems, although I have not seen the mobile icon you talk about.

I went into the sound recorder menu whilst on a phone call (down on the joystick, select 4 and then 6) and started recording. The recording looks like any other recording made (no mobile icon).

Just to make everything a little clearer, the image below is an example of how the My Sounds folder looks on my phone:

The first item, 'Recording', is just a normal recording made while not in a call. The second item, 'Sarah', is conversation recording of myself and Sarah. You can see the small mobile icon next to 'Sarah'. (The two-note icon is for polyphonic tones, the one-note is for monophonic). Do other T300 users get this icon? Has anyone successfully transferred a recording that has this icon?

When you send recordings to the comp, the phone also sends the ASCII code for the icon. How the compater handles that is dependant on the OS. My XP box displays the icon as a rectangle followed by teh rest of the name, but the Windows 95 box manages to "loose" it.

Look for a recording with the rectangle in front, if not, then rename the recording on the phone to remove the icon, before sendign it to the comp. That will work.

Ahh thanks mate, that worked a treat. It didn't even occur to me that the icon was part of the filename, and that Rename allows me to remove the icon. [addsig]
