I just got a sony ericsson k800i - inherited it from sister because she has an iphone - it was an 02 phone which came to the end of its contract.

I can ring out and receive calls and receive text messages.

But I cannot SEND text messages !! (or even picture i don't think)

When I go to .... messaging > write new >

it should say - "text message" - but it doesn't.. it just says picture message or voice message or email - and there isn't any greyed out button either. I looked for the user guide on the website and it just says under troubleshooting:

"settings are probably missing or incorrect. - contact your network operator to find out the correct SMS service centre setting - 33 text messaging (SMS)."

whatever that means??

O and I'm with Orange pay as you go - i duno if the sim is too old or something?

It is as the phone says... Contact your network operator. On their website you usually can let them send the settings right over. Also possible via the Sony Ericsson website self.
