from the headquarter of Sony Ericsson,
P800 will be released in the mid of Feb.

however, as i predict, it would be released before Feb i.e. before Chinese New Year.

this is quote of original email:
I am very sorry for your bad experience with Sony Ericsson, I will
forward your email to the relevant person.

Unfortunately we are now expecting the P800 to be release mid Feb.. You
are correct, it has been released in other countries, and so I hope you
will be moving to a country that has the p800, as we very much value our
customers.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards

Opinion: Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm not an analyst. I?m a customer only. I just want to give some
opinions to SonyEricsson.

At the beginning of 2002, SonyEricsson announced P800. I was surprised
that SonyEricsson would produce such powerful phone. However, as time
goes by, SonyEricsson delay the release date of P800 again and again.
And finally, I was happy that it released in the December of 2002.

P800 have been released about a month in some countries in Europe
already. But it?s still not available in Hong Kong locally. So I asked a
sales man of Sony Ericsson Live in Causeway Bay yesterday (12/01/2003).
But I?ve got bad experience about that.

When I asked the sales man when would P800 be available and how much it
would be, he answered me, ????bor, ????????????!? I didn?t surprise that
he answered he don?t know. It should be your official answer to treat
your customers as fool, huh? But I was surprised about his attitude! And
I asked him again will P800 available in January 2003. He answered the
same answer again while his attitude is worse. I am very disappoint and
angry about that. I can?t believe that the sales man answered me such an
answer. I think his attitude could be better even he really don?t know.
I couldn?t really recognize his name clearly. But his name should be
Chris Chung or something like that. I hope you can share my experience
to his supervisor.

And there is another advice. Don?t keep your customers always wait.
There are many similar phones that compete with P800 in the market
although P800 is a powerful phone. P800 is not the only choice for the
customers to choose multimedia phones. The customers may choose other
brand if they waited too long! In my case, I will leave Hong Kong in
February. I will choose Nokia?s phone if P800 cannot be available before
February.

In this time, SonyEricsson makes me very disappointed. I hope you can
give me a satisfied reply.

Thanks for your attention.

Yours faithfully,
Arnold Tang

If you were a phone manufacturer, you would release it as soon as you could, that`s what they have done, don`t you think these guys have had enough people nagging them about this for about 6mnths, why don`t you just go & get one from a country that they are on sale in.

I hear from a reliable source that the official release of the P800 in HK will be further delayed. This is due in fact that they want to wait for the P802 before they officially release it in HK.

As for myself, with much luck, I already have a P800 in hand. I cannot say where it came from (it was an official HK channel, though).

anyway, i don't care about who u are. Would u like to tell me when P800 will be released? at least, please tell me will it avialible before 21 of Feb? coz i am going to continue my studying in Australia. So i wanna get a P800 before i leave HK.

one more thing, is P800 good at voice and reception even in HK noisy street? I quite concern about that...

My name is indeed "Vinko", so I am not the person you're thinking of.

Although I do have a P800 officially from SE. Its mic volume is okay for HK streets. Like other threads have mentioned, due to the positioning of the P800 mic on the back of the bottom right side of the phone, to get the best mic volume one would need to hold the P800 in the right hand.

In my past observations this is not a natural thing for Right-handers. Most of us hold our mobiles with our left hand.

I have a HBH-30 so that helps, but callers have complained that my voice is very soft, even out of the noisy HK streets.

BTW: I cannot tell you when the P802 will be released, because I do not know. I was just told that it will be around the end of Feb. So since the 21st is not "end of Feb." you may have to come back for it.
