Google Maps on C905 |

Just took delivery of a C905 with software R1DA032, there is a mention of Google maps in the handbook and on the website but it's not on my phone.
I have installed it myself from the google website but the phone's GPS is not working with Google maps, it will show my location to within 2500metres. In the manual it states that GPS will work with google maps and pin point the exact location.
I have switched on GPS by running status info and wait until this shows connected before opening google maps. Is there a special Sony version of google maps that I need to get.
Thanks

I know the Google maps that came on my W760i works with the internal GPS but the Google maps on my K850i which I had to install separate. I have to use the SE GPS reciever and it doesnt work with the Google maps.
So with that I seem it has o be installed on the phone when you get it for it to work with GPS |

sounds like the map is using phone masts to get your position(2500 m)

This is absolutely true.
I have the generic SE firmware on my c905, which includes the google maps software.. v2.0.0 (#2019), the GPS on this version works perfectly, down to around 10m. This version however has old style menus and search and does not support streetview. So I downloaded the latest google maps from m.google.com/maps from here you can install v.2.3.2 (#2375) which installs separately in that it doesn't overwrite v2.0.0 but on this one the GPS does not function at all, it only uses GPRS triangulation, however it has modern menus and streetview works brilliantly.
There is no logical answer to this apart from to wait for a new version which should update automatically at somepoint in the future, for now I use both.
I'm sure you could find a jar of v2.0.0 on the internet somewhere, which is the generic version installed on the latest c905 firmware.

My c905 just return from service center.
Current software version:
1208-0527
R1FA035
090723
With Google Maps
Version: 3.0.0 (#3029)
Web Platform: Sony-Ericsson-C905
Locale: en
With google maps v3.0.0 #3029 I have latitude enabled.
Is very cool feature, I can see all my family member on my phone.
But I tried with my K750i can't locate the latitude option on menu.
Do you guys have the latest googlemap JAR for v3.0.0 above? |

3.0.0 seems only to be available from the firmware upgrade and not from m.google.com itself. |

My C905 won't work with Google Maps via GPS. Also, my geo-tagging won't work with the photos. I've been told that's down to O2 - but not sure if that's true. |

Yes it true, you might try upgrade using USB data if still not work, bring to SE service center, they will do it for you. |

hey mate. Just got the C905 too. Mine tells me accurate to 2700m, and I am inside my house. Do you need 3G or WIFI for GPS or? I have GOOGLEMAPS V.2.3.1 |
