I'm thinking of upgrading to a K850i. I had the K810i and I absolutely loved it, especially the camera. Since the K850i's camera seems very good, it's attracted me quite a bit.

However, for every good review I read there are 2 bad ones. The good reviews always seem to be from over a year ago, whereas the bad ones are usually quite recent ones. This led me to believe that recent batches of the K850i have been very faulty. Is this true or just me being silly?

Also I have read reports of the K850i locking up frequently and requiring a flash to get it going again. Have the main issues been ironed out in recent firmware upgrades? I really want to like this phone, but the only thing that is keeping me from doing so is the bad reviews.

What do you think?

Thanks.

It was a struggle for SE to get it working ok at last but with the latest fw it seems to be running OK.

If you use the phone constantly e.g, always on the internet and running apps all the time then you will need to restart it every few days or it will restart itself.

If you use it for calls and texts mainly then it seems to run along just fine and its trouble free.

No lag on the media play with my 8GB card. I've had the latest fw on mine for a few months now and its restarted just once or twice.

That's my experience anyway.

Yeah, K850 it's very stable with the latest firmware (R1FA035)

It's a very nice phone with a good camera and it will be a good replacement for the K810.

A yes from me.
I was worried too when i bought mine around 5 months ago, i think i actually joined esato just to ask about it.

I purchased mine pre-loved and it came with the loaded wif r1fa
Software wise it's been virtually fine with stability, does slow down a bit when playing music in the background and some video playback is occasionally out of sync with the sound.

Keeping in mind that mine was an early model( late 07 early 08??) the silver paint on the call and end buttons is coming off a bit.
And i did suffer a bit from the "dust getting stuck under the lens problem" which actually wasn't that bad until I ended up getting a hair stuck in there( turns out it wasn't actually under the lens glass but i had to open the casing to get rid of it)- in the end I took off the glass cover while i had opened the phone.

I just recently switched to a c902( yesterday) you might want to consider that as well. I mainly just wanted a slimmer and more elegant phone. mind you the k850i has that techno cool look.

Big strong no. One of THE most unreliable phones I've ever seen.

I should point out that I don't own one, I sell them, and I've seen an insane ammount of them come back for repair, it's become a common running joke now that almost every K850i thats sold will come back at some point for repair.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

Please look around a bit longer. I've got an early model 10-07 latest firmware and modded. Lovely phone, pretty stabble, but every now and then a restart or a freeze gets anoing in the end.

Rather wait for C901 or get C510, the K850 requires you to learn how to take care of it lol, i had to compremise a lot to get it to be actualy stable,i love it but so glad to have my N81 back, havent touched my K850 since getting my N81 back, id say avoid it and wait a little, wouldnt recommend a C902 either.
