I bought my w760a two days ago from at&t. Then I bought a Sony M2 memory stick this afternoon.

When I placed the memory stick in, it couldn't detect it properly. My phone kept on freezing everytime i place it in. Sometimes it would detect it once it recovered from the freeze but then at times it won't detect it when i check the file manager.

So I formatted it in my pc. I placed mp3 songs in it then inserted it back in my phone but it said it had no files. I erased the files (through the pc), tried to bluetooth the files to my phone memory first then transfer it to the memory stick (using my phone) but it said there was a memory card error. So I reformatted it again in my pc. Still, the phone can't detect it properly.

Then I tried turning the phone off and on with the memory stick (MS) in there. It prompted that it was not in the correct format and it asked if I wanted to reformat it. So I did. Then the phone was able to detect the MS properly. But it still wouldn't let me transfer files from phone memory saying that the MS is full. I placed it back in my pc checking the properties, then it says there that theres 0 used space and 0 free space. (how weird!) now I tried to reformat it again in my pc and IT WON'T LET ME. Saying that it was unable to complete the format.

I put it back in my phone and it can't detect it at all anymore!

Bottomline: Both my devices can niether detect nor access this MS and whenever I place it in my pc it would first have the Sony MS icon then when I try to reformat it, it would turn into a hard drive icon.

Any idea how I can make this right at all? or AT LEAST reformat it back to its original setting?

Thank you so much!

(Sorry for the long post. But I tried to put it in detail so that we can trace what went wrong and start from there.)

Sounds like a faulty or fake M2 , i used to use a 16gig sandisk M2 in my W760 no problems.

I find that sandisk is more reliable. But try formatting it with the phone itself, it was never meant to be formatted with the PC in the first place as documented in the phone guide.

Sure. Go into file manager, press option, select 'memory status', select your m2 card, press option again and you'll see the 'format mem. stick' option. Good luck

oh. i sent you a PM. sorry about that.

I guess we've come to a full circle because the file manager says "Memory card not inserted".

That's probably because you've formatted it with your PC and the current format is something the phone doesn't recognize. Try reinserting it repeatedly until the phone detects it, and quickly perform the procedure I mentioned. If you happen to manage this and the phone is unable to detect the m2 occasionally then you need to replace the phone's board at the service center.

Hi, i know this is a bit late, but i hqad the exact same problem. The only way i got it to work was the insert the memory card into the k850 and push it as far inside the slot as i could. I then held it in this position and went to File Manager > Options > Format Mem Card ... and i formatted it whilst i held the card as far into the slot as i could (so that the phone would recognise it) and it WORKED!!! none of my files were deleted (back them up just incase) and its working fine now
