Please help i am thinking of buying an LG Cookie as a second phone as a back up. I was wondering does anyone here own one are they any good is it pretty reliable as i have had previous bad experience with LG? I heard early reports of constant shut downs but could be early ones. Thanks.

Yeah i bought my girlfriend a pink one two montns ago from cpw. It's never had a reboot. Screen is responsive as well. Media player is better than my Renoir. Only thing that lets it down is the lack of any type of flash on the camera. Indoor pics in decent lighting are ok but still need a program like noiseware to sort them.Outdoor pics are fine for a 3mp fixed focus camera.Make sure its the 500 model you buy and not the 510 btw as both are available in the UK. You can tell the difference by the bottom 3 buttons. The 500's are square like the Renoir and the 510's have smaller rectangular buttons.

Well i am on Orange pay as you go and i seen the pink and the silver 501 version they have. I noticed the buttons were different but does Orange put their own icons on their version? Cheers.

Yes mate. Orange have put their mark on the phone. Same as O2 have. Best place is cpw on p&g. It will be sim free, have the latest Open Euro or Open GB firmware on. Comes in at £110 when bought with a £10 top up on either Orange or O2

Well the white one we do at O2 (colour exclusive to O2) is shiny white plastic, so I'm assuming that yeah, that is the difference between the two.

Any other differences though other than that?

None really expect branding. Prefer the sim free ones anyway in case i do change network again

The difference is mainly branding. Orange only stock the 501 and they have butchered it to the point that its very unstable. The Pink 500 model my girlfriend has is all plastic as well. No rubbery feel to it. Nevver seen one with a rubbery feel to it either.

Available colours are:-

Black (All Nets)
Black with red trim (in some countries)
Blue (In some countries)
White (O2)
Silver (Orange and O2)
Pink (Orange and sim free)
Gold (in some countries)
Red (in some countries)

Personally. If I didn't have my LG Renoir and my T700 I'd have gone and imported and gold cookie and flashed it with Open Euro firmware as it looks very nice.

Oh right. I've not seen the black one to hold one. So it would feel the same as my old K800 then ?

A little comparison via GSM arena

Also, O2 have only ever done the white one, not the silver one, unless it wasn't O2-UK or it was CPW or P4U.

And yes, looked at the box yesterday and ours are 500's not 501's
