C905 vs LG Renoir |

Hey! I lost my k800 (loved that phone).... and now i have to buy a new one... i'm thinking of C905 or LG Renoir.
Renoir has better features than C905 like video recording and video player, besides it's a touchscreen...
But its xenon flash sucks and i used it a lot with my k800. I wanna know if there is a way of fixing this weak xenon flash, any mod or firmware update. I couldn't find any LG forum so i posted it here!!!
Tnx!! |

The C905 is better tbh. Also the Renoir may annoy you a lot if your used to SE. I know someone who has a Renior and hates it!! |

And if you need your phone to do what a phone is supposed to do in the easiest way possible, go with C905. It has smart dialing. |

I have a mate with a Renoir and its a lot different to the C905 / K800i so I would say try one out first if you can - they take some getting used to.

He kinda answers his own question regarding the flash. I dont think there is any mod for this. Indoor pics without flash is also much worse than c905
I didn´t like the c905:s build quality but i was very pleased with all functions of the phone otherwise. Well if it had Nokia Maps with preloaded maps in it it would be even better I sold my second c905 because it also got worse in the slider and lens cover. It was a late 09w4 model. Nothing major but i got scared and sold it.
I was very pleased with the Renoirs outdoor pics. In good light and so it performs very well. But in the end the "touch" thing wasn´t for me. As soon as you touch it you have grease all over it. It´s hard to like drive your car and type an sms at the same time because you have to look at the phone when typing. I prefer regular keys so i can feel them. But this is the same for all touch phones so nothing specific for Renoir. Build quality was very good and it feels solid. It´s a bit slow in the gallery after you have a couple of pics in it and i could never get the GPS to work ok. The web browser where totally brain-dead but i think you can get opera mini for the Renoir these days.
Other than that im more of a SE person. I like the menues and that things feel that they are where it should be.
And if you can consider a Nokia then i think the best overall phone on the market still is the N82. It has everything.

both Renoir and Secret have quite Big problems with their auto settings, (such as auto whitebalance & auto focus).
however, a bit work with the camera-settings, Renoir take slightly better daylight pics i think.
still, i vote for a Gold C905
yeh Pitzon, plain touchscreen really suxs at the end of the day...(its a total different story with ex, P1.... keypad + Big juicy touchscreen, thats so better/funnier)

well C905 performs better outdoors but indoors they are pretty equal...Anyway if you like candybars keep in mind that N82 is still the best on the market the Xenon is much better than the one on K800 plus you have vga video recording with wifi and ngage games, 3,5 mm jack and the phone looks pretty good in black Plus you have the advantage of the gps wich is better than the one in c905..i don't have to mention the symbian part bigger screen, dual speeker etc, office viewer, etc.
If you like candybar phones with good construction and the best overall 5MP on the market,N82 is the phone for you.If not go for C905

If you need a good xenon flash the choice is between C905 and N82 (but if you can wait some times get the SE C901..), if you usually take the pics at 2 - 2.5 meters maximum Renoir’s flash is good enough.
Otherwise i would get the Renoir, it’s better in the camera department in all the way (give a look at the photo section or at the Renoir thread and judge yourself).
Renoir has surely better build quality against C905 or N82, a very responsive touchscreen interface, better screen, and one of the best signal reception and audio quality.
Plank, have you ever used Renoir or Secret? Yes? 3 minutes in the shop? Or maybe you have dreamed the big problems with whitebalance and auto focus? Do you have stressful dreams?

Just got the LG Renoir, a very good phone. The flash is more usable than people think, although if its top priority look at nokia N82 or C905. My last SE was the K800 and i love the Renoir so dont assume you wont like it!
Plank dont assume before actually using LG. I was very mislead until i got the Renoir.

shouldn't you be looking at AND concentrating on the road when you're driving?

There's nothing mmore I can add that hasn't already been said. I've owned (and still own) the C905 and the Renoir and the Renoir is the one I use everyday as it's the most stable phone out of the two. Besides a decent camera (the xenon flash on the Renoir is not as bad as people make out imo) I needed a stable bluetooth connection that doesn't randomally drop while on a call via a bluetooth handsfree and also a half decent calander (would have hoped for a calander like what was found on the UIQ 's ) and again the Renoir has both of these over the C905.
Agreed the touchscreen can be annoying at times especially in landscape mode where the QWERTY touchpad buttons are a bit small to use without the stylus. The packaged screen protector was useless and scratched very easily so that went in the bin and I bought a much better one from Expert Shield.
I have 2 official cases for the Renoir. Namely the CCL-250 and the CCL-240. Both protect the phone very well and each have their advantages (phone can still be used while in the CCL-250 but no room for the stylus.CCL-250 does also add slightly to the size and the camera can be fiddly to open. Phone cannot be used while in the CCL-240 as its a pouch type but there is a stylus holder built onto the pouch)
I also have the LG SDT-110 desk stand and again it a very good accessory made to fit the Renoir only. Theres a bracket on the underside to fit the desk stand to a tripod, inputs on the rear for charging/USB cable/TV out etc.
Music player on the Renoir isn't as good as on the C905 as there is not equiliser on the Renoir and music sounds a little flat via the standard speakers. A way to overcome this is to buy a bluetooth stereo headset that has an equiliser built in. I bought the LG HBS-250 and it has a lot of features that my HBH-DS220 hasn't got and also sounds a lot better even with my T700 and C905.
Everything else is basically the same on both phones. Just the interface that is different.
I've been an only for the last 7 years but I found the Renoir very easy to learn, set up and use. Even debranding it was easy (thanks to help from -PERFECT- )
Oh yeah. The Renoir also comes with an 8GB memory card as standard in the box
Another bonus.

another reason that now used to make me think of buying Renoir is the QWERTY keyboard when in landscape mode... but according to Roodwise it isn't as useful as I thought.... is that right? |

qwerty is quite difficult without stylus yes. I use the standard keypad as its much quicker and painless. Music player is simple, but the quality is great IMO. You at least have the option to change headphones out of the box.
I was deciding the exact same thing between Renoir and C905 and im glad i gave Renoir a shot first. |
