Hey guys. I was given an old HP camera (OK not that old, 5MP with auto focus). It uses 2 AA batteries but I can't seem to, well, use it with the sad power of bog standard AA batteries.
With a pair of Duracell alkaline batteries, I got about 5-10 shots (flash wasn't used for all of them). And with some VARTA "superlife" alkaline batteries I got about 3-6 shots.
Would buying some 2300mAh NiMH (rechargeable) batteries give me more shots before the batteries run out of juice? I've read somewhere that alkaline batteries are no good for devices such as cameras. |

2300mah batteries wont give much more life than Duracells. Sounds like the camera is faulty.

If it is faulty, would it be better to buy a new one with a proprietary Li-ion battery pack or dual AAs? |

I'd give the high-cap rechargeables a try. Then you'll know for sure if the cam's faulty or not, and if it is you can use the AA batts in all manner of things - or get yourself a camera that takes them. I personally prefer AAs to proprietary li-ion batteries as they are universal, and if you're 'caught short' whilst out you can go to the nearest shop, buy some alkaline AAs and continue shooting!
I'm a fan of rechargeable AA/AAA etc. batteries, I have quite a few and it saves me a fortune in buying batteries!

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the rechargeable ones.
Also, will dual NiMHs last longer than a Li-ion? |
