was: Sony Ericsson Experts Pls help

Hi guys, just unpacked my new p1i, i got it from dubai, just went through all but when i tried to type a new sms using the keypad, its comin in arabic, i tried changing the language settings to ENGLISH(U.K), but no use, again the arabic letters are comin, when i use virtual keyboard, the english keyboard comes, but when i type using keypad, arabic comes, four arabic letters are displayed as background, is it because any other additional software is preinstalled? Pls help guys..

N.B:- tried restoring, master reset and update firmware,, nothing help... i think what can be done is to flash the memory and installing a non arabic firmware.... is it possible to do?

Check out this tutorial:
http://blog.artesea.co.uk/200[....]ee-or-your-p990-m600-w950.html

It is meant for debranding your phone, but I think that it will also solve your problem because you will change the CDA of your phone to Generic World 1 and after the update via SEUS you will hopefully be able to use English letters with the keypad.

I haven't tried it myself but as per the info given in a/m thread (which has been confirmed to work by one of the users) you should do the following:

Download XS++:

http://rapidshare.de/files/39691479/XS___v3.1.rar.html

Download the gdfs file for qwerty keyboard:

http://rapidshare.de/files/39[....]TY_keyboard_settings.gdfs.html

Run XS++, backup your gdfs, close XS++, unplug your phone, remove and reinsert the battery, start xs++ again and run the keyboard script.

but now the problem is keyboard settings is not available as its deleted from rapidshare....

can any1 find a mirror of it pls

I found this, hope it might help:

Open up notepad, paste in the single following line:
gdfswrite:000206d500000000

and save it as P1A_Zebra_R8_CCPU_GDFS_QWERTY_keyboard_settings.gdfs

backup your GDFS first with XS++ and then use the script with XS++. I havn't used the script personally but if you really want it gone, use that script. But please backup the GDFS first.

This will change the HARDWARE keyboard.

Yes it says P1i. It works on M600 as they have the same keyboard anyway. By backing up GDFS, you have nothing to lose.
