I ordered the Sony Ericsson G900i. Any tips to check if it's not faulty (ects) unit? |

I just ordered the brand-new (fresh from factory) Sony Ericsson G900i (dark brown). It will be delivered after few hours.
I have a right to check the phone if it's not faulty, or bad unit before paying the cash. After you hand the cash, you cannot get it back.
Do you have any tips for me to check the phone? What should I check?
What I'm going to check:
> * << * < * - check everything in secret service menu
Check if it's unlocked.
Check if the touchscreen working properly with note application (draw everywhere)
Check if the call and texting work well.
Check if the charger work well.
And sniff the phone, to see if it's used or not.

Hi gal. I think you made the right choice of phone. The early versions of this phone were buggy, but i bought mine recently and realized a lot of the bugs have since been fixed. But try to work and play around with it and see if it restarts or hangs. Also check to see how well it connects to wireless lan. |

That means you may probably wont be using wireless so much. But play around with the phone extensively. See whether it hangs, or restarts. Note that g900 being a symbian phone is not as fast as non-symbian phones. Try to open and work with several applications, eg. 5 applications. I dont know whether this is your first symbian phone but, i realized that it could take some few hours to really test it, it has sooo much 1 Mine was my first symbian phone and tell you what, i love it ! |

Yes, it will be my first Symbian Smartphone. I know it will be slower than J2ME headset like my current (k510i).
I think playing with it for few hours is too much for the deliver to wait. |

I understand your situation. There are a number of fast checks to do while testing a phone, some are ; charging ?, camera, headset + radio, bluetooth ? usb cable connectivity, internet, firmware version ? I know there are many more that i have i not included. Try to go through this part of the forum (Symbian/g900), and note the issues some guys were having, (btw dont be discouraged by the problems some people experienced with their phones - i never encountered any of the ! When you finally buy the good phone, come back for more tips on the additional software and accessories, i discovered that there are very gud software out there. A symbian phone is like a mini computer The world of symbian is sooo different from the one of J2ME !
Good Luck ! |
