Use MiniCommander or MobyExplorer to set file attributes.

Use BlueFTP. You can change file attribute to hidden or read only with it

There are two simple ways of hiding files.

1. Put them in emails
Create an email profile. Hide some files by attaching them into a mail and save the email as draft. Once done delete the files from the File Manager

The files can be viewed by going into Emails - Manage Files - Drafts

Create a second email profile and switch to it so that the phone does not show the emails from the default profile (the one which contain drafts with the attachments).

2. Put them in Memory Card\System\any new folder
The phone doesn't search and display files that are present in the System directory. So you can put them there, and use MiniCommander to browse to this folder for viewing. This is the most simple way as you don't have to change hidden attributes of files or change the extension.

there is also another simple way: use mobyexplorer and rename the file. what i do is just put another file extension at the end of the filename. for example: xxx.wmv would become xxx.wmv.idk

this way you don't have to encrypt it or hide it or anything. just whenever you wish to access the file, just change the filename back to the original

Hey everyone All these techniques are good and all for most phones, but there is one fatal flaw when it comes to a SE with a media center (like the K850i I have). You can use any app you want and set file's attributes to hidden, they still show in the media center menu. Anything like music, photo or video. And if it is a lot of files it takes so loooong to copy over to the system folder every time that it is just not a possibility.

So is there a way to hide files from the file manager and the media menu????

Thanx

Just move files from Music and Video to folder Other and set file's attributes to hidden.
When files are not on the locations:
*.mp3 in Music
*.3gp and *.mp4 in Videos
Then the file manager can not find them (on db2020 work).
