I noticed something strange on my c510. Its nothing major but its slightly irritating me. Every now and then the screen flickers constantly until i switch it off and back on again then it stops. Its like a strange shimmering. The screen is not distorted its just slight flicker shimmer type thing cant explain it. Switching off and back on stops it. Anyone else noticed this with theirs?

Hi no haven't noticed that on my new one (or the one I took back that took black photos), not yet anyway. Maybe you should change it in case it gets worse. |

Its over 28 days old now plus i debranded it. I will try to explain. It does not happen often just sometimes. You know when you look at a tv or pc screen for too long and its that bright it starts to look like its flickering. Well it does that sometimes the backlight. Its so hard to explain properly. Its not really bad just bit strange and as i said happens only every now and again hardly ever really.

I've had not problems with my C510 flickering and mine is 19 days old. The only thing i noticed regarding the screen that it is sometimes hard to see what you are doing when its very bright outside. |

Oh dear that's a pity. I read on the other thread that you'd updated the software. I've never done that on a phone, nearly did a minute ago with my new one but was worried I'd mess it up so chickened out. Maybe when there is another software update it will fix it. I'd phone SE to see what they suggest. |

I never updated software i debranded. I tried updating mine is 032 it shows 035 is out but it said i already have latest software. Mine is month old. The screen kind of does it sometimes a slight flicker. There is problem too apparently with this firmware of a split screen like it goes into 4 mirror images. It happened once with mine.

Hi Bonovox. My C510 has contracted the very same screen-flickering illness (like a very low refresh rate problem), but i could only notice it when sending a text. It fixes itself if i turn it off though and it has only happened twice to me. |

ok now my cell is working 100% normal thanks to SEUS update
i noticed that older formware R1DA029 had lots of bugs
But now mine is R1DA032
lets see if this firmware has bugs |

And here the seemingly perfect C510 is starting to show its spots, really a pity. The phone is pretty nice when I tried it in an Orange shop, guess the problems will start now...

Looks like I have the flickering problem also... I've had the phone for 5 days now. I just updated the software to version R1EA034. It remains to be seen if the problem will repeat. I'll get back with info in a week or so... |

Sounds to me like one of 2 things. First one could be an intermittent power fault on the screens pcb. Open the phone and check the connections are securely plugged into the main board. Also check the screen pcb for signs of damage. Second could be faulty LED's around the screen. These are non replacebale and a new screen will be needed. Either way a partially broken circuit or a short can result in the problem your having. Turning the phone off and on can sort the problem out for a limited time but it will happen again and keep happening until the fault is fixed.

I've returned to say that since the software upgrade, the problem hasn't occurred anymore. Hope it stays that way |
