Iphone has already upgraded there OS, however that alone is not en0ugh. I believe that iphone 3G needs more than just a software upgrade. I really like the phone. The touchscreen is resPoNsive and fun. But i want the basic feature that it lacks. Such as A2DP support. Video recording cApaBilities. And of course coNSidERing that its a 3G PHoNE, it must have a froNT cAMEra for vidEO Calls. I phone that iphone engineerS wil read ths message. Tanx.

This is an SE forum. Your asking for an I-Phone here? Its like asking for a Nokia in an LG forum. Anyway all those features come to V3.0 OS so dont complain. |

^ this maybe a Se forum but this is the other manufactures section. In answer to your question apparently there is a new iPhone due later this year, according to reports it will perform all the basic functions that other phones have for years gone by including a 3.2mp
Use google and search for "The Iphone user guide"

In fairness to SE_Love, this thread was originally posted under Sony Ericsson -> General - I think one of the mods must have (rightly) moved it.
The new iPhone OS3 is scheduled for a June release, likely to be Apple's developer conference in the w/c 8th June (I think). The beta is already available to developers and contains many of the features already announced - MMS, copy and paste, stereo bluetooth - but additional hidden features are also being uncovered such as video recording and editing software, and references to hardware capable of FM transmitting and receiving and Wifi N.
It's a near-certainty that a new iPhone will be announced and released in or around that same week in June, plugging the few hardware gaps still to fill in the current iPhone (namely, that camera and the lack of video recording).

Actually the feature list of OS3 sounds a lot like the kind of iPhone wishlist you could find on pretty much any random internet forum!

I love that they're (apparently) going with a 3.2MP camera in this next one. It'll be a worthwhile upgrade if it has good optics/video performance etc, which I suspect it will, but will get right up the nose of those feature-obsessed with the megapixel race!

With the spate of large touchscreens now mostly available in the 16:9 ratio, anyone else think that apple will be adopting this in the next iPhone(s)? |

THe new os 3.0 is supposed to incorporate most of the missing features that people have been complaning for the last 2 years or so.
THere still seems to be no sign of multi tasking yet . |

That's taken care of by the push notifications to some extent, and I'm completely with them on that to be honest. I've had a total of four multitasking smartphones to date (not including the iPhone 3G which actually does multitask in a controlled way) and with each of them I've had to spend time installing task managers and constantly shutting down background processes to free up memory and save speed/battery life. It's always been more hassle than it's actually worth.

i just want at least 3.2mp of camera with a VGA capability. 12MP in a small phone is funny. its nothing more than a marketing stategy like the Idou. its totaly a hype! nothing more than a hype. if u want a 12mp then buy a DSLR. its like expanding your image and without making it sharper and eating up your memory. 12mp of noise not details. iphone rules!!! looking forward to the next iphone!!!! SE fans are loserzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I don't think they'll change major things like screen size which would mean that new apps won't work on old phones and vice versa. Ongoing support is part of the iPhones success.
My pics for changes are:
- Two regional versions - a US 850/2100MHz version and a EU 900/2100MHz version - and possibly a third for China.
- Multiple colours ala Nano 4th gen
- A 32GB version
I don't really care if they upgrade the camera unless they incorporate a full suite of settings like in SE phones and a decent sensor. Greater resolution on the current hardware would still produce useless results.
I hope firmware 3.0 speeds up the UI a bit and stops all the freezes that my iPhone is subject to. I've found A200 more reliable than iPhone 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 or 2.2.1
