Where is SE version of Nokia E55? |

I don't read much about Nokia phones, but just now searched a bit. And I was amazed. I talk about Nokia E55.
*** This model has really great network versions.
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
UMTS 900 / 1900 / 2100
(UMTS 850 / 1900 / 2100 - US version)
There is not a single SE model, which could offer quad band GSM with tri band UMTS 900/1900/2100. I mean: including UMTS 900.
*** Nokia E55 also has WLAN and GPS (in addition to HSPA + EDGE).
*** Nokia did not remove frontal videocall camera, like SE tends to have a weird habbit.
*** Nokia E55 has great battery:
Standard battery, Li-Ion 1500 mAh
Stand-by Up to 672 h (2G) / 456 h (3G)
Talk time Up to 8 h (2G) / 6 h (3G)
*** Of course this phone has radio and main camera 3,2 MP
*** Screen is capable up to 16 million colors.
*** Considering this all the phone is not heavy either too big.
Dimensions: 116 x 49 x 9.9 mm
Weight: 95 g

I must also admit that Nokia E55 has nice elegant design. Hey Sony Ericsson, where is your response?

E55 is an excellent business phone. I dont think 'business phone' is exactly SE's thing

But the E55 is just Nokia's take on and and trying to get one better than the P1i

Dream on, they did that long ago with the E71. The E55 is an updated E51,that's all.

I really like that phone more than even the E63. the keyboard approach states that nokia is trying to catch the user base from P1 who are waiting for it's proper successor.

More like BlackBerry 81xx Pearl user base IMO.

Basically the same target market. Come on GUCCI, admit it, the P1i is not all that bad |

Lol,i would of thought ex P1 users would want a Touchscreen, since its SOOO convenient but fair enough, the P1 user base.

E55 is not yet released, everything is speculative right now.
Not being a touch screen phone is a big let down though. Im a P1i user and also a N82 user at the same time, i dont think i would be replacing any of my current phones for E55. |

Looking at the main features of the E55, the closest would be the P1i which was conceived long before 900MHz UMTS became available.
As far as 900/2100Mhz, 3.2Mp+, wifi capable phones SE have these models available/coming soon:
W705
W715
W995
Xperia X1
and probably the Idou?
So SE have the technology but haven't decided to compete in that market yet. Considering that Nokia have a plethora of smartphones and SE do one-at-a-time (P800 > P900 > P910 > P990 > P1i > Xperia X1) it's not really surprising to find the current situation.
SE have signaled that they intend to release more smartphones but whether these will be business orientated remains to be seen. They're spreading themselves across three platforms (WM, SF/S60, and Android) so I would expect them to have at least 3 smartphones at a time, and probably about 6-8 considering that Xperia is supposed to be a sub brand and that the Symbian Foundation/S60 platform will make a good basis for iPhone style multimedia phones such as Idou. Who knows where Android will go? Maybe not much further than the US?
Anyway, SE could produce an E55 but Nokia have probably saturated a depressed market already so it's not worth it ATM.

The P1 is an excellent phone! I would dearly love for SE to replace it with a slim version with HSDPA 7.2 , better video recording, 5mp A/F camera, 2.8'' screen and (obviously) SF OS. I would buy that in a second!
Unfortunately, a few people say that design is dead even though nothing comes from SE.

To make such a phone they need to hire sober designers first. You know, the hip geeky types that we all are. |
