LG have announced their second S Class UI based handset - the LG GD900.

It was originally named the 'Crystal', after its clear transparent key pad, but they appear to have dropped that name now:

Yea, I know, you dont think its as good as the I Phone and wont ever sell as many units, boo hoo, I would still buy one.

I wonder how too, these are the first two LG phones that I really like, Arena and this one.

This is like an upgraded Arena - larger screen, nice crystal clear keypad, and an 8 MP camera, it will just be more expensive.

They seem to be following in the footsteps of samsung with model ideas, and borrowing UI ideas from Apple, I surely dont have any probelm with this, to me the Arena nd this new GD900 look far far better and much more feature packed then most handsets from other manufacturers.

Too bad I have to wait 18 months for an upgrade. My Arena is good enough, but this GD900 just made my jaw hit the floor when I looked up the pictures.

At first I thought 'but wouldnt the glass break? Why would I want a part glass phone?'. But I think it should be strong and sturdy enough.

I think 2009 is definately going to be a great year for LG, as well as for Samsung, HTC and Nokia - Tocco Ultra, Omnia HD, N86, N97, Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 all are amazing quality handsets, as well of course the LG Arena and GD900. I do feel sorry for , they are going to suffer over the next several months without anything competitive.

This year I think is going to redifine the mobile phone industry with all these great new phones coming out, dont forget later on in the year we will have the Snapdragon and Nvidia Tegra handsets, and more google phones as well, think that toshiba one and SE IDOU, but I dont like SE anymore, and 5 MP camera with VGA recording is now bare minimum spec for me.

So many new handsets that make me full of jealousy, envy, and OMG WANT factor, nothing that the I Phone or any phone before this year has ever made me feel.

I'm starting to feel the same. I still like my T700 but since buying my girlfriend a Cookie and got myself a Renoir I've started to really like what LG has done. They've come a long way imo compared to what they used to bring out. I've got another 18 months on my contract now but will certainly be considering lg again. This is the first time I've not upgraded to an SE in 7 years.

I really hate Renoir, but the Cookie is nice and I think this phone and Arena are totally great (though I never used one of them). Maybe LG is able to make my view on them a little better.....

This is my first time without an SE phone on contract too - I had the whole K range for the last few years and got bored.

But I do like the T700, its nice, small, and I find I still need the keypad for forums and entering messages, hence why I would have been better of with this GD900. I replaced my K850i with the T700, identical phone, smaller but weaker camera.

The Tocco Ultra is also released on my network now, but it looks ugly to me.

I know. That thing is amazing. But i love how he panicked. Its a gesture movement. *presses home button quickly* Zoom swipe and there you go. Otherwise the phone is great. Cant wait to see more.

That is the first thing I thought too, that wouldnt that keypad be really fragile?

I'll wait a few months after it is released and see the user response, maybe a price cut and then sell my Arena and buy one Sim Free, I just want my current phone with that keypad!

I dont really care that it is clear, I just want the buttons and the second touch pad looks really handy.

Now, do those gestures really work, or was he lying about them?

Nah he just panicked cause it was a bit glitchy. I mean you know how hard it is just to make something this awesome? They made a keypad multifunctional. with touch. And its clear. And epic. I am seriously now considering to not buy any SE(no matter how temtped i am for a W705 or W995) and see how much this comes out for. The arena came out for only 400euros here so this might be around 500. Dunno it sounds right but then again i can get the W995 for 80 euros less. Decisions desicions.

Design is similar to KF510. Nice nice phone i like it but if you drop it will the glass smash easily?
