I hope someone can help me with my problem. I had a SE M600i until recently - I had it repaired under warranty - and since there is a problem with my phone, I'll get a different one (M600i aren't for sale anymore). Now, I have all my contacts, and calendar events, and files, etc. stored in a backup file, generated by the Sony Ericsson PC Suite for Smartphones.

Can I somehow open this file, to extract at least the contacts and perhaps even the calendar?

Please help me! [addsig]

don't think you can open the dbk file, but .... when you do a backup you
also appear to get text files .... have a look in

I just backed up my w705 and they all got updated - you never know !

In
\\Users\\_USER_\\AppData\\Local\\Sony Ericsson\\PC Suite for Smartphones\\Sync Manager
is only one .mdb file, which I opened in Access, but it was empty. Now, if I had a non-smartphone, the SyncML would contain all the info I need, ... but this is not the case.

I have only one backup file .bm3, which is basically an encrypted zip file, but darn if I can figure out the password. Can it be done? Or will I need a new M600i to get my data back?

not so sure about a new m600i .... I know you can restore the data
to other phones with pc suite warning you that they are not the
same (restored a w610i from a k850i backup - perhaps smart phone
versions are similar ?)

Have you tried the SE developers forums to see if anyone knows the
default backup password ?

Well, I can't tell what phone I'll get, maybe it won't even be SE ... and I've tried the developers forum, but no reply yet.

Sorry, I've had no success yet. I just got Xperia and I'm really desperate to get my data back.
