I downloaded another version of Google Maps (from www.google.com/mobile) and it contains the street view feature but the only thing it doesn't do it use the GPS positioning, whereas the Google Maps preinstalled does use the GPS Thanks

So installed GM 2.3.2 which does not overwrite the original google maps. This has streetview and looks a lot better but no GPS (as you have already said). Can't seem to find anything else about this on the t'internet so I just have both installed and use them respectively of their offerings.
