Come on everyone on here come and sign my petition on here against phone branding. My petition i wish could be sent to Vodafone Orange and 3 to stop all branding on mobile phones. If they knew how many complaints it causes and maybe even how many customers it can lose them then surely they would do something about it. Why should we sign that contract or pay hundreds of pounds for pay as you go and not be given the real original product as it was intended to be. Why should we put up with nasty graphics and horrible menus when signing on the dotted line. Branding. Why?

Some our worse than others, e.g. Orange totals the UI & graphics whilst O2's branding tends to be amongst the least intrusive.

never really bothered as the networks wont listen. branding is part of their global marketing so is a big part of their network...

But if it helps.

I add my name to this petition to try and stop the networks branding phones so fiercely.

Not to rain on your parade, but has any online petition ever been effective? I don't think they care at all. Or did 3, vodafone, tmobile, etc agree they will stop branding if they get x signatures?

Don't get me wrong, I despise this branding that some (Orange is the worst) providers do, but the only thing we can do is stay away from them so they notice it where it hurts; their pockets. I buy my phones from the carphone warehouse or tesco, without any hardware branding, the software is easy to remove anyways.

Don't get your Orange phones from Orange, get them from CPW, my last 2 upgrades have been from them and they were completely sim free

The Orange homescreen is the worst part of the whole thing, they have sort of listened and it can now be disabled but the FW is still fudged!

I've flashed one Orange branded firmware in my C702, and it wouldnt even allow me other themes to change the menu's icons. Branding is one think, but takign away functions is much much worse.

I'll add my name to the petition.
End of the day. We pay the networks for a service. The don't pay us to advertise for them so why should we get a phone with all their stuff plastered over it.

I wouldn't mind it so much, if they didn't remove important features , my 02 branded C702 had no google maps.

Yes its true why should they give us phones that are not as they should be when signing upto pay them money. Its complete crap. I remember Vodafone saying years back that customers gave them great feedback about how each phone they upgraded to in their range was instantly easy to use cos all the menus were the same. BOLLOCKS!! Same as what Orange make us believe that customers love it.

Signed.

Don't know if this'll make a difference but branding on handsets is a pet hate of mine, one reason I stay away from Orange and Voda (unless I went to CPW - but is there a guarantee you'd get a sim free contract handset?)

My C905 has only slight O2 branding, but as Number1 has said Google Maps is crippled on it as it can't access the GPS, only the mast info

i dont think its a big problem. If you dont want branding choose a network like o2 who dont go over the top. Branding is fine if its a contract phone because it still belongs to them until you finish paying it off so they can do as they please really!

You should see the LG Renoir I've just had on my upgrade with O2. Was more than just the usual added screensaver/startup and shutdown animations installed.

The box barcode sticker actually reads O2UK.

The instructions are O2 specific and show the O2 menu's in the guide.

The browser has been completly replaced with an O2 Active link.

The Google Applications icon (for Gmail, Maps etc) had been removed and had been replaced with a Yahoo Applications icon for all of Yahoo's services.

So glad I've managed to debrand it to the lateest open Euro firmware.
