I am thinking about buying an iPod touch, have been for a while. Does anyone here have one and any opinions? Also should I wait for the 3rd generation to be released in Octoberish time? Thanks

Got one and love it! Especially useful for web browsing around the house via wifi, and the touch interface/UI is brilliant. Oddly enough for an iPod I don't listen to a huge amount of music on it, but imho this iPod is whatever you want it to be - internet tablet, games console, music/video player etc. I'd get a 2nd gen one now Downsides are non-user replaceable battery, and being tied to iTunes (though iTunes isn't too bad!)

(Oops, that makes me sound like an Apple fanboy above! )

You could wait 'til October. But don't forget, iPod Touch 4.0 will be out the October after.
Buy it now.
New software should be compatible when it becomes available.

Personally i'd wait, but 3.0 sounds fantastic and i'm sure you wont regret it

I suppose now that the 2.0 is jailbroken you wont have to wait for it, unlike touch 3.0 which will take until this time next year

Sold my ipod touch 1st gen to buy a 2nd gen so I could use Nike+, brilliant bit of kit!
