I am a little interested by the G705 but why no topic at all in Esato?
Nobody bought this phone?
I have some questions like:
-How good is the slider?
-How good is the camera?
-How the software? any bugs?

Forget the G705. I have it and i can tell you
Since the W705/715 is out now i really suggest you buy the W version

Slider is bad on G705, much better en W
Camera is the same on both G and W version
Software is the same
Jogpad is really bad on the G705(validation button isn't thick enough so you press on the directional keys when you want to validate) much easier to use on the W705/715

I think I will have to wait for the W995!
3 more months to go with this horrible 5800 !!!
Or if the C905 price fall to 350$

Honestly the GPS is the worst one i've ever seen, it can take up to 10 minutes to get a lock on the sattelites !!!
So don't expect too much of it
But i insist the keypad and specially joypad is horrible on the G705 much better on the W versions.

I would suggest W715, if you don't want to pay extra for the 8Mpix the W995 offers. In my country, W715 cost 300EUR, it is about 40EUR less than G705. Considering that your are getting 8GB m2 card and HPM-77 headphones for that price, I think it is a great bundle. You can have a look at the phone here: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=183307

The W705 nor the W715 are available here yet!
The c905 is a great choice but the price is still high,I feel like I am jailed with the 5800!

I have the G705 and think it's great. Functionality all works. GPS can take a while to lock on your position but it only took long the first time I used it. Keypad works for me, but I think this really comes down to a personal preference so you may want to go play with the G and W and compare yourself.

The only thing I don't like about the G705 is I find I'm always cleaning it because of finger prints! Other than that, I think it's great. I am using it in the US btw so it's much cheaper than the W version and W715 (by $50).

Can the A-GPS be used in standalone mode (not assisted)?

I have red in the MR review of W705 that it's GPS photo enabled!
Could the W705 has a hidden GPS module? So flashing a W705 with the W715 FW could bring it on?

Is the 5800 that bad? I mean I've tried it and I kinda liked it.

I have the G705 flashed to W705 since I don't need the GPS function. My battery seems to last for around 2 days with around 30 texts sent each day. Whether I use the Walkman or FM radio seems to have little effect on my battery life. Keep in mind that my battery is already a bit screwy and the screen brightness is at a low 50%.

The G705/W705/W715 firmware are all interchangeable. If I want, I can easily turn mine into a W715.

The only regret I have is the camera's lack of autofocus. Other than that, I still love this phone very much.

The only thing i hate in 5800 is the java support. I mean the navigation of it... It sucks because of the lack of real keyboard...

P.S. and it's nokia.... hahaha
Sony Ericsson software/hardware support!
