Since my notebook is not working properly, I want something smaller mostly for web browsing. I don't game so, best web browsing exp is my priority. Iphone is my best bet?
These are the things I mostly gonna perform/looking forward to have:
Best Web Browsing Experience
MSN/Live instant messaging
Comfortable keyboard/best possible typing exp (doesn't matter if its a slide out one or virtual)
Any phones out there to replace a notebook or at least very close to do so?
How is your experience with multimedia phones so far?

iPhone will do for your needs, especially since you don't mind if the keyboard is virtual. |

All I want is a mini computer which is always with me. All my videos, music, powerpoint presentations, excel etc and be able plug this to an external monitor (via an adaptor/dongle whatever) when better visaul experience is needed. AFAIK, there are no such devices, right? Today's tech ie CPU/GPU allows much more than that, imo.
Any upcoming/current devices to suit those needs? |

Get a Netbook/Mini Laptop, a phone isn't go to do half the things you need, and NO phone is a substitute for a laptop, you'd have to be mad to want to use a phone for all your internet needs.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

The Nokia E90 is still an excellent choice for your needs.

As Steve Jobs (owner of Apple) once said, that the Iphone is Apple's own version of the netbook
So go for Iphone |

lol. Your views on this is gonna change in no more than 5 years, my friend. Just the technology is not that mature or big players simply don't want to lose their laptop/netbook sales. Imagine all data you need is in your palm. There are very exciting rumors floating around about this coming from Apple, Nokia, HTC.
Anyway, till this truly happens, I think I will be sticking to my lappy. I'm gonna try iphone and see how it handles these things Thx guyz for suggestions so far. |

The i-mate 6150 (and probably others in the i-mate Ultimate series) released in January last year should fit most of your requirements. A cable which can connect to an external monitor (VGA port) is included in the box. From experience, the power drain when connected to a monitor is significant, hence simultaneous connection to a power supply is recommended. Though I've not tried it, I've heard that the device also connects to bluetooth PC keyboards and can be used as a mouse when connected to a monitor. The best part is that with the correct USB cable (i-mate have different pin connectors) the device acts as a USB host as well i.e. it can read from and write to external hard drives, USB sticks, etc.
Finally, prices are really low now.
Hope this helps. |

Here's a link to a pic of the i-mate 8150 (similar to the 6150 but with a slightly smaller screen and a numerical keypad) connected to a large monitor.
