I recently got myself a SE W902 and I think the sound (when using the enclosed earphones) is pretty bad. I've tried using the equalizer but I don't get the sound that I want. Earlier I had a W890 and it had Mega Bass in the Player, and I really liked the sound of that one!
So, is it possible to get Mega Bass (or something like it) in the W902?

My W902 sounds great with the bundled headphones - maybe yours is faulty?

In terms of presets, I find I get the best sound by setting the equaliser to "Unique".

I've tried different headphones, and it's just the same. I mostly listen to rock, but the equalizer setting for "Rock" sucks big time. And I just can't get the manual setting to sound great.
Anyone?

w890 is crap compared to w902
in my opinion.
dont think the phone is strong enough for a bigger headphones cus of not enough loud volume.
I use the orginal hpm-77 and get amazing deep bass and nice sound.
what exacly are you missing in the sound?

I also use the original hpm-77. And what I'm missing is Bass! The volume is nice but there is just that the heaviness isn't there. Hard to explain, but I think it needs a lot more bass, but I just can't get it to sound heavier.

Try this manual eq setting

400Hz = +1 bar
1kHz = +1 bar
2.5kHz = 0 bar
6.3kHz = +3 bars
16kHz = + 3bars

As for Clear Bass setting, 2 bars would already spread nicely across all genres but if you're a Bass buff, set it to full blast to quench your thirst.

It should come out beautifuly for your Rock genre (if your unit isn't faulty)

I did some soul 'testing' and came ou with this eq setting for a 'raunchier' sound

400Hz = +2 bars
1kHz = +1 bar
2.5kHz = 1 bar
6.3kHz = +3 bars
16kHz = +3 bars
Clear Bass = +2 bars

Hope that helps

wow i got
400Hz = +1 bar
1kHz = +0 bar
2.5kHz = -2 bar
6.3kHz = -2 bars
16kHz = - 1bars

and full power, 3 bars on Clear Bass, and music totally pounds in my ears.
w902 already has pretty much treble, and bass from the its original sound, so isn't it getting a bit over pitched with that much treble?
or do I just got weird ears ?

No worries mate, glad I could help One last tip, I never use 'stereo widening' for the rock genre, it'll make it sound light and hollow. But it sounds great with R&B and hiphop. It's not conclusive though since these things are subjective, but you can try it and decide for yourself

Best sound on w902i,

Try either of these 2 Acoustics,
J R G Sound OR w595-w760 Acoustics Mix by Balutza

Both are equally good though I am using J R G Sound
(IMP NOTE: If you are only concerned with headphone sound, put only files named with PHF_Play.wbxml, you will find 4 such files, play1, play2, play3 and play, etc! Don't put any files with mic or rec, it might make your phone mic stop working and you won't be able to speak in calls! For a complete tutorial on how to put it, contact me!)

Use these settings mentioned by someone above:
400Hz = +1 bar
1kHz = +1 bar
2.5kHz = 0 bar
6.3kHz = +3 bars
16kHz = + 3bars

Put Clear Bass to 3 Bars.

Enjoy!

Yes, all bars go up except for the 2.5kHz channel which stays at 0
