What is the maximum and minimum temporature you are legally allowed to work at in the uk. And what temporatures do managers have to take action. Please post links to the sites because i have to reference them. Thanks |

hi mate...
The law provides that where employees work indoors, the temperature of the building should be reasonable and that employers should take reasonable steps to ensure a reasonable temperature is maintained. What amounts to a reasonable temperature will depend on the work that takes place in any workplace.
Your employer has a duty to ensure that the temperature in your office remains reasonable but there is no minimum or maximum temperature.
Useful advice can be obtained from the Health and Safety Executive.
but again it is very hard to prove the temperature is wrong... we had a similiar problem in our office and they gave us a handout about it that did nothing but say they monitor the temp and change it but as its not instant it can take some time to rectify. |

19 to 24 degrees are industry standard as the "comfort zone" but in practise the ideal is 22 degrees celcius at 50% humidity. If you can use a decent thermometer and hygrometer to prove you're outside these conditions, there are many ways to convince management you're working in an unhealthy environment
(I'm an HVAC+R Engineer specialising in heating and air conditioning plant for large office buildings - feel free to quote me lol)
This article pretty much covers it:

Flick through the chapters to find the relevant info you need
