good and cheap bluetooth pc card |

does anybody have any opinions or even experience?
i'm looking for a bluetooth card to link my laptop to my t68i. the laptop has a pcmcia card slot. i need it to work to sync with outlook, to download pictures etc and to work as a wireless modem. |

You will be better of with USB BT. It is much cheaper than PCMCIA.

why look for a card?
i definately agree with the pervious post. get a USB adapter (unless your laptop is so old it doesn't support usb). they are $50USD or less. just make sure it's bluetooth v1.1 compliant.
i picked up a belkin adapter model f8t001 and it worked plug and play on my macos X box (showed up right in the system preferences). picked it up for $49usd at a local compusa store. claims to have 100foot range which is well above the bluetooth standard. also came with pc software which i didn't need or use. |

I use Anycom CF card and comes with PCMCIA adaptor. I can use this on my PDA, notebook, desktop (it has 2 PCMCIA slots) and can transfer pic from T68 to PC and vice versa without all the bullshit problems  |

I can understand if you want to have a PC-card bluetooth kit.
When you are on the run with a laptop, you don't want to connect things to the ports all the time. In this case, the PC-card slot is terrific. Plug in the most needed things there, and off you go.
I haven't found any good PC card BT thingy yet, but If anyone does, please tell me

exactly what i was about to say hobbis.
i want a pc card because two-thirds of it actually goes into the laptop and then i dont have anything flopping around at the back of the computer which would be the case with a usb thing.
i've found a lot of bluetooth cards but they all look the same and they all cost about the same. i'm looking for that one great deal on a great card. |

thanks for all the ideas.
i realized that if i paid so many hundreds for a good quality SE phone rather than one of those bricks that providers give out for free with a conract, then i might as well get a good bluetooth card to go with it.
I'm ordering a 3com pcmcia bluetooth card. if anyone else is looking, this card has a retractable antenna so you can leave it in your notebook all the time and its still flush with the edge. when you need BT, just pop out the antenna.
it costs about 120. |

great choice when you receive your card make sure you go to 3com website and download driver file btcmscf.exe. i am really happy with the card also you dont need to pop out the antenna when phone and laptop are in the same room can send and receive files (pics imelodies etc) go online anywhere i am synch with outlook enjoy

I finally just received my PCMCIA Belkin bluetooth card (from http://www.provantage.com/scripts/go.dll/-s/fp_74142 ) for $70 bucks including shipping. And this card is sweet! It blows all over the USB dongles, because this little card goes into SIDE of the laptop and it ONLY STICKS OUT 1/2 INCH from the laptop, therefore never having to be removed for laptop transport! USB dongle must be removed before you can put your laptop in the carrycase, but this Belkin unit can remain in the computer indefinitely. Has NO external antenna to get broken off, and range is pretty good (advertised at 10 meters). And I still have all 3 of my USB ports open for all my other USB devices that I must run (my port emulator, wireless mouse dongle, and OBD II interface). |
