Hello guys, I’m thinking to get a new Notebook within few days. I’ve been using Linux and Windows since for past 10 years. I never have had or played with any Mac, So this time I want to go for MacBook. But you know apple product is so costly, so I don’t want to make any mistake.
My question is; what do you prefer Mac OS-X or Windows? If you prefer one of them then why?
I know guys, I can use windows on MacBook but I don’t want to use windows on MacBook because I can use it others company’s low price laptop. So guys share you thought. It’ll be very helpful to me to determine to get my next Notebook. Sorry for my English. |

If you use and like linux, OSX is similar..
As Arien said,
OSX everytime. I'm not entirely sure you'll find a mac user that will tell you windoze is better.. But you'll find enough winblows users that will beat a mac down without actually using one...
And just for the record, I use Xp for 9 hours a day

Get yourself that MacBook, and stick XP on it just in case you ever need it.
Either cracked, or an OEM version. The latter can be picked up for around £50, from what I've heard. It's on Amazon for £99, though.

Thanks guys for your input. Sounds are good. I should go for it. In Bangladesh it’s little bit costly than other country as I said in other thread but hope it’s worth it.
I’ve a desktop which currently running by XP; it’s a well-mannered machine so if I need windows platform (like gaming, programming language compiler, run SEUS) anytime I can use it. I’m going to abroad within 10/12 months for higher study and going to take the Notebook with me. Hope in this time I can discover all of alternative windows software for Mac and totally switch to Mac.
Currently Apple distribute all MacBook with Mac OS-X 10.5 but I’ve heard or read in net that, Apple going to release OS-X 10.6 very soon. Is it ok to get one now with 10.5 and later updated to 10.6 (which will cost additionally) or wait? But I’m sure new version OS-X, apple not going to distribute soon along with their product and from my past experience; all OS isn’t come to stable until further few major update. So maybe it’s better to get one with 10.5.x and wait for 10.6.x for upgrade.
These all my personal opinion, you know already that I’ve no idea about Mac world. So guys, Feel free to correct me or advice. |

If you need it now, go for it! Don't worry, OS 10.5.6. will feel like all the operating system you will ever need, after using Windows.
OS 10.5. retailed for £80 at release - single version. Expect 10.6. to be about the same.
Many, many useful features in 10.5! I don't know how I lived before Exposé, Spaces and Time Machine!

I'm hoping it's going to be Mac-OSX, as I am going to buy a mac book this weekend.

No-one knows when Snow Leopard (10.6) will launch but November is looking like a good time, as perviously said Leopard (10.5) sold for £80 at launch, but was available elsewherenthe very same day and unlike windows you don't need a CD key etc etc...
It's taken me a while but I now know of no reason why I'd need to go back to a windows pc at home (other than installing BB os) but rumours are rim are releasing a mac dtm soon anyway so problem solved.

Sure OSX is good but I prefer the customisablity of being able to build your own pc (using your on prefrerred brands etc.). But for people like me, there is a hackintosh!

Thanks Arien, Fatreg, QVGA and Yea_g to share your opinions.
November is too late, Hope 10.5.x will works fine for me.
@nicv27: Are you going for 2.4 GHz unibody or 2.0 GHz unibody or the white one? I’ve plan to get the 2.4 GHz unibody one and hope 13.3” screen size won’t be so small for daily use. |

I am aiming for the 2.4GHZ. Although i do like the white one I don't think the 13.3" screen will be too small, I want mine for editing pictures general web browsing and syncing my 3g iPhone.
