I have a K800i. Was brand new when I bought it 2 years ago. The last half year or so it has been kinda "difficult" to change my phone.

I have to plug and unplug the charger many times so it eventually start to charge, when I finally manage to connect the charger properly it charges just as normal and normal time length and the battery last as long as its supposed to.

I have tried with 8 different chargers and its the same with all chargers, so its definitely not a problem with the chargers.

The charging problem has just getting harder and harder the last 6 months or so, and last night when the battery was empty I wanted to charge it again, however this time I will not charge no matter what.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hmmm I have tried to clean it with a (dry) toothbrush, a toothpick, a paper towel and tried to blow it for possible dust and nothing seems to make a difference.

I've had this trouble too on my K800i.

You know what I think this is....

Its the way you disconnect the charger once charged. You're supposed to remove it by "snapping" it in up upward motion. Most people who share my charger at work don't know this, and just pull it out. I've been through several chargers, I believe, because of this. Your phone is fine. It's the connector on the charger not lining up corrrectly with the contact points on the phone.

This is my belief.

I'm using a new charger that I'm not letting anyone else use, and everything is fine.

A friend at work has a brand new SE phone and I tried with his brand new charger and the same problem.

So I'm 100% its not the charger itself.

Anything else I could try?

Since the phone is useless at the moment I'm willing to try "everything"

Try the following, if one fails go on to the next (and so on)

1.Get a graphite pencil and colour in the golden contacts (this will make it look dirty but the graphite is a good connector.

2.Try doing a master reset (Menu>Settings>General Tab> Master Reset>Reset All) N.B Make sure you data is backed up.

3.Download SEUS (from here http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones) and reinstall the firmware on your phone

4. You can assume it is a hardware fault. Either proceed to replace the fast port or send it away to get it repaired. But a cheap alternative would be just to buy a battery charger which you plug the battery in and charge it up.

5.Throw your phone at a wall.

Good luck

Hmmm I'm not really sure what you mean by step 1.

2 and 3 can't be done since the battery is totally empty

4. I might try that when no other hope is left.

5. Does it count to throw my phone on the floor?

And thanks for your help!l

1. Get a normal HB pencil and just scribble on the golden contacts on the phone the stuff inside the pencil (graphite) is a good conductor and will pass current well.
2,3 is there no way you cannot borrow a battery from someone who has the same phone?

5.Yes as long as you feel better afterwords.

I just tried a friends battery in my phone and the phone works just fine. I then tried my battery in his phone and the battery charges just fine. So it 100% sure its wrong with the charging "thing" in the phone.

Hmmm I'm still not quite sure what a HB pencil with graphite is

I had a similar problem with my old k800i and i wanted to keep it as a back up. I tried it with two chargers only but then bought a battery from www.batterymill.com which sorted the problem.
