I am always PM'ing tranced to lock my threads, and sometimes unlock them.

I've always thought that this would be useful in the market forums, but I don't like the idea in the general forums.

Although a member might create a topic, it then becomes community property even if the topic starter maintains the topic by providing updates or whatever.

But I don't feel that gives the topic starter the automatic right to close the topic just because he/she decides they don't want it any more, or perhaps because they have a disagreement with another member, or some other reason

Similarly, members often PM me to ask to close a topic that has received an answer but I don't like to do that because another member may come along with a similar issue which can easily use that original topic as a starting point

For example, I am going the Sony Ericsson Menu Hook Editor and i'm always PM'ing tracned sayin please could you lock it (while I do stuff to it) and then unlock when I'm done
