I recently moved back from O2 to Orange and bought again my old fave phone the K800i sim free from Carphone. Now whats strange is that whenever i use other network sims in the phone its fine. But when i use my Orange sim in it the phone seems to crash alot and the screen goes white during a call or on the net. Does anyone know why this might be and why this only happens with Orange sim card? Does Orange use more powerful network which can crash a phone i am confused? Sometimes also the screen flicks slightly upwards too. Its nothing major i can live with it as its not all the time. It never did this with Vodafone or O2 sim cards. Help.

I have tried new sim but it still does it. Why would Orange network sim do this but no other networks its strange? Also it is a sim free handset.

Well I have heard that the orange sim makes the phone have a "welcome to oragne" popup on startup. Maybe your phone is crashing because of that?

I have no idea but all I know is it happens at random but never once did it with other network sim cards. It is very confusing.

it'll be due to the fact it's a new profile sim card, that your K800i can't deal with, I take it your sim isn't a usim? you don't get 3G signal on your phone? if so, get on the blower to orange, tell them you are using a K800i and need a 3G usim...

Didn't affect me at all, I'd be a bit snookered if the net goes down as my BB wouldn't work and lord knows it's been working fine!

All depends on where you are in the country, most of the South of England is served by the GPRS node in Brizzle, there's another one up North but I don't know where as it's never affected me!

but a 3G usim should see you straight! I just hope your on just talk and not pay monthly, as getting a usim from the pay monthly peeps is nie on impossible!

True, having a GPRS outage for 4 days on JT will have cost them an arm and a leg, quite literally, the amount of young kids that use phones for for facebook, MSN, myspace etc is unreal, bizarre that it's only JT though, JT and pay monthly use the the same apn, same node, only difference is the Orange system, you got your new usim ordered yet? if not and you want one, get into an Orange shop and buy one there and call CS and get them to do a number swap for you.

I am going to get my 3G sim tomorrow after work. My internet is working now after 10 phone calls to Orange. My whole family are on Orange and theirs was working but mine was not. Anyway i did start another thread on this in Technical. What was confusing me was Orange said there was a huge outage then all my family their internet was working but not mine. I thought there must be something either wrong with my sim or my account. After lots of calls and then a master reset everything is working fine now. Though yes there still was a huge outage. The phones screen still sometimes jumps upwards which is strange but its no longer crashing as much. But when i was last with Orange i found on 3G that its so much faster than O2 or Vodafone. Cant wait to go get my sim tomorrow. Oh i forgot to say cos of all my problems Orange have given me free internet for one month. How nice of them eh? I notice too that they are now doing 250mb for 7.50 a month on pre pay.
