T68i and Bluetooth Ipaq Dial-Up |

I have my T68i and a Ipaq 3970 I believe, I want to be able to Dial-Up to the Internet on my Ipaq using the Bluetooth modem. I finally got it setup and it seems to work sorta, it tries to Dial-Out to the network where I work at, but comes back and doesn't seem to want to let me in. I believe it is because it needs to be authenticated so I think that is out. What is a online service I could use to be able to Dial to the net using the T68i and my Ipaq? |

Mike, it depends on your Network... if you ask your phone company for the GPRS number (with Vodafone, it is *99#) and set that as the Dial-Up number, then set (in Bluetooth manager) the T68i to be the "Bluetooth Modem", then all should be well. I have been using this combo since March (well, a T68 then a T68i) and it works well.
If you do not want to use GPRS, but GSM, the procedure is the same. Just get the GSM dial-up number.
Hope this helps.
Mail me if not.

ask for your gprs provider for the APN setting for your phone. |

Is there a way that the phone can act as a dial-up modem, and connect to an access number given by a computer internet dial-up ISP? These GPRS data amounts are expensive from AT&T, and itd be better if it just counted as a regular phone call.
possible? please explain. |

Matthewf,
ATT does not support the ability to use you're phone as a modem to dial into a ISP, if you want Internet Access you have to use the data side (GPRS)

Can you use the phone as a modem on ATT? On other providers YES you can. ATT does not allow this to my knowledge.

How does AT&T cut off that functionality?
And how would one set that up in general, I suppose its worth a shot on ATT to see if it works.
I myself dont have one of those mMode plans, i have just a basic regional plan with a NON-BT phone But my dad has a T68 AND mMode. However, mMode is too damn expensive! I need an alternative. If there are any good options then Ill buy a T68 for myself. |

Mathew
The switch does not support data calls I dont know which either from a hardware or software point. Several people have tried but non successful a call to ATT will confirm this.

Yes OK ill have to call AT&T.
Are there any US service providers who have any bluetooth phones, and would allow me to save some $$$ by using a dial-up access number from my ISP?
My DSL provider gives like 10 hrs. of dialup/month for travelling or if service goes out, ya know? So i figure that if I can make a phone call instead of using data progs. like mMode, itd be a lot more economical! |

Mathew,
My understanding from reading the forums is that Tmobile/Voicestream allows this. I think if you will do a search for CSD you should find the thread.
