For me my best phones have always been either Nokia or SE. The main feature I look for is camera quality, as I never have my stand alone camera with me.

N82 was a phone I loved, great OS, fast GPS navigation, and the best 5mp camera/flash I could find (and I tried every last one on the market last year).

Now I'm a relatively happy C905 owner, camera is even better, in a lot of shots its just as good as a camera (imo), and since I have a 09W02 model it has no faults. I'm not too impressed with the GPS as I was on the N82, and theres a couple of other gripes I have with it, but their mostly software.

With the N86 8mp, and Idou 12.1mp announced for this year, which do you think will be the one to aim for, looking at mostly camera quality? Sure the Idou has 4.1mp extra resolution, but the lense on the N86 should be so nice and really start to bridge the gap between phone and camera. There is also the flash to consider. N82 and C905 have excellent flashes, so will this new LED flash on the N86 be able to stand up to those night/low light shots as well?

Opinions?

P.S. I should be due an upgrade not long after the N86 comes out which is why i'm thinking about this so much.

Dual Led lights are better than single Led, but still are not even close to the Xenon flash in n82 and c905(experienced from my n96).

@knight_uk....

your never goin to get great night/low light shots from a phone cam as the aperture of the lens is small and wont let great levels of light in. This is why u get lots of noise in them.

http://www.john-gilluley.co.uk/Events/slides/DSC00519.html is an image i took with my DSLR and was in pitch black apart from the torch light. No flash used but as the aperture is large it can let lots of light in and take great pics in very low light.

Cam phones are great for daytime snaps but if u r interested in great night or low light shots then invest some of ur cash in a decent DSLR and get snapping! u wont regret it mate!

is out there a single person who saw pic from Idou? not even a single camera sample. camera in N86 is quite interesting, great results in low light but not that good in daylight - big loss of details in some parts of images (green)

I understand that the lenses arn't that good for low light on camera phones, so is this new lense on the N86 going to make a huge difference? And will that difference be big enough to compensate for the lack of a powerful xenon (like n82 and c905)?

Just looking at some of the C905 shots, they are very impressive indeed, and if it could universally perform that well in all situations, i wouldn't even think of a DSLR, since I never seem to have mine with me when i'm out.

You can't really judge sample shots taken on these test units, and the Idou dosen't even have any test units currently hense no sample shots?

I'm expecting daylight/lowlight shots on the N86 to be better than current 8mp phones tbh, because of its lense, but the duel LED flash...well time will tell.

if i where u i would go for the n86 nokia has done a great job doing something different than others i know xenon is really good but we will have to wait for comparision shots between n82 and n86 and i know nokia will still improve with updates in general the n96 dual led is 2nd gen the n86 is 3rd gen with supercapacitor a reach of up to 3.5m + variable aperture and fast shutter speeds the gap is getting smaller between led and xenon i saw picture taken @ night with n86 it looks very nice as for the idou i dont know sure it has 12 mp but wil it be a good camphone or just marketing numbers.. i am nokia and se user so dont say i am a fanboy or so i like a good phone whatever the brand is

The reason SE put crappy lenses on their cameraphones is because they (SONY to be exact) don't want the sales numbers of their digicams to get hurt. I think their reasoning is something along these lines: if we put real sensors and lenses on phones then why would people effin' bother buying our standalone Cyber-shot digicams?

N86 is a rival of both C905 and W995, im pretty sure all 3 will attract similar crowds especialy N86 and W995 since both are so similarly specd.

Too bad for me though, the design of N86 just sucks compared to C905's, but hey, that might be just me. The N79/N82's design is way better IMO.

EDIT: GUCCI.011 I just saw your "racist" sig, it's hilarious!

You should definitely not go for the N86 not because it dosen't have a good camera ....it's because of the LED FLASH and the reason is 'if you go xenon you can't come back" if LED tehnology is that great than all digicams would have LED tehnology and not xenon .You should go for IDOU 12,1 Mp and xenon it will be better trust me
Or if you wan't a nokia wait for the release off the N82 succesor wich will have 90% the same camera but with xenon
For those who believe no explanation is necessary, For those who don't none will suffice
