W960 - how to remove keypad? |

Hi!
I have been having snags with the keypad on my W960i- the * key doesn't work. While I suppose that this is possibly the best key to lose the use of, but it's irritating nonetheless.
I have found a couple of replacement keypads and membranes for sale, but I am not sure what I will need to replace (if anything), as I can't get the keypad off the phone, after opening it up.
Does anyone know how to do this? I have had a prod from the front, but feel that I am likely to cause further damage this way. It's not clear at all how to remove from inside.
Cheers

Thanks, Wardh
Unfortunately it doesn't cover the keypad. I need something a bit more detailed, I suppose.

Hi!
About a year ago I tried to do this myself, only to realize I wouldn't be able to do it. The reason I wanted to do it in the first place was the creaking between the cover and keypad kept annoying me. Later on I sold the phone only because of this. |

Just what I needed.
Looks like I just have to buy a new membrane.
Thanks again!

did you manage to change the keyboard? Can you give me some help in changing mine? Does the keyboard come out of the front?

Yes, the keypad had to be pushed to the front of the phone. It was glued-in, so it's not east. The keys need to come out first, of course, there are little rubbery bits that you can push with something blunt for that. Then it's a matter of pretty-much scraping-off the membrane itself.
Take care, there's a risk of damaging the keys this way.
Good luck!
