I just got an N96 as an upgrade but don't really like it very much.

It's brand spanking new and I'm assuming it's locked to Orange but it has no branding or Orange icons.

Really I'm just seeing how much I can get for it and ideally trade it for a G1 that will work on Orange.

So sensible cash offers or G1!
I'm in the Bristol area by the way.

I'm considering cancelling the contract and taking out a new one with T-mobile but I did get a really good deal with Orange.

Does the G1 work perfectly with any Sim? I can still use 3G access and the google app centre fine?

Also is it stil under warranty?

yeh would work fine just need to re enter the apns which is easy and the app store works fine.

its been reflashed with non tmobile software so doesnt look anything like tmobile g1. can be reflashed back so warranty is fine.

what are the branding on the n96?

No orange logos on the phone and only something called OrangePlus under 'tools'.

What condition is the G1 in? Got any good links so I can see what the rooted android is like? What do you use to flash it?

condition is 9.5/10 no marks and still has screen protector on the front!

best place to check is www.xda-developers.com for info on the rooted G1's. dont need any programs to flash just copy the update file to the sd card and then reboot whilst holding the Home and Back buttons down!

So should I get the unlocked G1 will it be ready for my orange sim straight away? I don't need access to a T-mobile sim do I?

I just rang Orange an they won't unlock it because the phone is in the first month.

Orange have a new policy since mid last year (at least) where you must have the phone for 3 months before they will allow an unlock. This is why I went elsewhere to get the Orange HTC Diamond unlocked that I had last year

I've just had a go on a G1 and decided it's not for me.
I've dcided I'm sick of all these feature rich phones and now want something like a Nokia 8800 Arte. Sorry for messing you guys about!

Cash offers welcome, I have no idea what this phone is worth. eBay prices seem to be anything between 200 and 350!
