Is it possible to save my T9 dictionary? I have a TON of custom words in there and may need to switch phones. I would hate to think that I have to start from scratch - especially if I switch from Sony Ericsson to Sony Ericsson!

Any thoughts are SUPER appreciated.

Thanks!

I was too lazy to browse my phone's FS with A2Uploader so I checked this out using a extracted FS of W910 and W980 on my computer.

Could not find any related file for T9 custom words as they were both clean extracted FS.

Try to look inside the following directories:
tpa\\system\\....
tpa\\preset\\system\\language

I'm not sure what phone you're using, but I've transferred my T9 dictionary from my k850i to my new w760i.

You need to copy both files:

user_cdb.t9
wdb.t9

/tpa/preset/system/language/your files will be in here

Just transfer them from phone to phone to keep your T9 dictionary. I'm not sure how to keep the preferences, though, as in, when your phone learns that you use one word more than another, and selects that word first, when you type it out. At least you can save your dictionary.

Edit: Forgot the "preset" file structure.

Sorry for my n00b question, but somehow I am not able to download those two files.

I am upgrading from a K800i to a C905, and I was planning to copy the custom T9 dictionairy to my C905.

I've tried downloading the files with A2loader.exe and XS++.

Strangely enough I can download the empty dictionairy from my C905 with A2loader, but the K800 will not connect to A2loader.

The K800 will connect to XS++, but with that program I can't seem to get the two files out of the phone.

Can anyone help?

Greetz from the Netherlands,

Thijs

Edit: also tried FAR, but somehow I'm afraid I will f*** up the phone.

I actually just did this the other day using A2Uploader. It worked GREAT! Find those 2 files when you have your phone attached, and I dragged them to my desktop. Then I dragged them in on the new phone. It was really successful.

The k800i is not an A2 platform, so A2Uploader won't allow it to view the file structure. Believe me, I tried. I have a w810i, and feel uncomfortable using Far, but the w810i canNOT be seen by A2Uploader's file system. It'll read the phone and connect to it, but that's it. I cannot perform any functions through A2.

@allyn
You drag and drop? Hmmmm, what version of A2 are you using? I can't do that on mine...on mine, I have to right-click the file and select "read", and it outputs it into a folder in the A2 directory called "ph_out". Although, it does make backing up the entire phone's FS much easier...

Update regarding the copying of the T9 dictionairy.

I've managed to pull all my guts together and give it a go with FAR once again. I appeared for starters that I've made a slight mistake with installing the communication protocols. Once I got that in order I used the guide. (link posted below)

Spelling isn't all good, but it worked flawlessly .
