Well since I did not receive any information to my queries on this matter, I searched around and found the information I needed from an Italian Apple Forum site that is awesome. This guy Matteo Muraro enlightened me to the correct settings. Do you want to know them????? if i were an ass I would have everyone answer and beg, so here there are and I apologize for the US settings, but they can be modified to apply to your local settings as well. I apologize if I leave anything out, but this is what I know.
1. Go to System Preferences on your mac and select Network.
2. From Network Select a New Location (or modify an existing one if you have connected with a T68I) and call it whatever (I used GPRS Mobile)
3. You need to Create a New Network Port (I called it P800)
4. Once you have created a new network port, you need to modify the tabbed settings.
5. In the PPP tab you need to put in the name of your Service Provider, for me it was T-Mobile, then in the tel# tab you have to put in the number your provider gave you. for me it is internet2.voicestream.com
6. In the Proxy Tab, you need to put in the proxy address, again for US T-mbile users its 216.155.175.188 Port 8080
7. Here is the tricky part. In the Modem selection tab you need to pick the right modem. I.e. if you have downloaded the proper ericsson scripts when you used it for the T68i you probably already have the modem scripts, otherwise, i can give a link to the modem scripts. Anyway you need to pick the correct CID. How do you do that. Well, since I purchased my P800 abroad, there were two pre-established GPRS accounts for TIM, MMS and Wap, so when I created my t-mobile GPRS account, it became CID 3, don't ask why, but the ITalian guy discovered this. In any case you need to use the CID 3 modem script.
Then Hit apply and the internet connection box will pop up. at this point, if you have selected the proper CID, then everything should connect properly.
Note. I noted that the P800 is an intuitive phone, it changed my T-Mobile Wap Internet Account's address from wap.voicestream.com to internet2.voicestream.com which does not work for surfing wap. So, leave the change that the phone automatically makes and create a new t-mobile wap account.
Sorry if this is so confusing, but if there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask more questions, i will answer them to the best of my ability.
Have fun, now i need to upgrade OSX to jaguar so that I can sync or does I sync work with OSX prior to jaguar software?
Please answer

Thanks for the info. regarding setting up the P800 for Mac OS sync. My problem is with the Modem script. You kind of lost me when you said to "... choose the modem script for CID3". I understand the CID thing, but how do I know the modem script is for the proper CID.
BTW: do you have the link to download the proper modem scripts for the Mac?
I will attempt to answer you question about iSync in another thread to keep this thread clear. |

Vinko.
Send me a private message with your email address and I will send the scripts to you.
As for th CID, yeah its a little odd. let me see if I can explain this better for you. UNlike the T68i where when you set up a data account it gave you the CID number, the P800 does not do that. To determine which CID you need to use, you need to look at the number of GPRS accounts you have created.
For example in the P800 i purchased, there was a TIM GPRS and MMS GPRS accounts. TIM was the first, MMS the Second. SO this means that CID 1 was equivalent to the TIM GPRS, CID 2 to MMS. When i created my new account for use with my carrier, T-Mobile GPRs, this was the third GPRS, therefore it is CID 3. I hope this makes some sense, because it is a little confusing, but that is how it works. IF you have more than 3 GPRS accounts make sure that one of the threee is you GPRS account for surfing with the p800 because as far as i can tell, there are only three CID modem scripts.

Harleydog,
Thanks I will send you the email.
As for the modem script. I thought you're talking about the one on the Mac's Network Control Panel. Don't I have to set that? So that the Mac know how to dial out with the P800? |
