T700 availability in the UK |

Hello,
I was wondering when the T700 was going to be released in the UK? According to se-store.co.uk this was supposed to be Jan 2009 but that's now changed to Feb 2009.
I've been asking in the phone shops on the high street, but no-one seems to have any clue about this phone.
Seeing as the phone was announced in August last year, seem to be dragging their heals on a fairly simple product refresh.
Cheers,

I'm from Indonesia (Asia-Pasific region) and this phone had been sold in local store since December 2008 for average selling price of US$200.
The strange thing: it's copy-paste walkman version (W890) are sold around US$270
I don't really know why it's not yet available in the UK. But if you see T700 product page in SE website, it stated *limited availability for some country*
Because of the price, it sells quite good in my city, with no build quality problem, in contrary with US$550 CyberShot flagship that has an earpiece problem (at least, in my city. Don't know about the others. )

I emailed SE a few weeks ago about a Uk T700 release date and also mentioned their website stating Jan 09.I was told that there were no plans to bring the T700 to the Uk. |

- a strange company indeed.
My wife is pretty keen to buy this phone, but would really like to see one first become laying out the cash.
It just seems so odd that it's taking so long to release this phone in the UK, unless don't consider it applicable to this market.
Weird

It is available as sim free here:
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/M[....]archstring=T700&searchsource=0
And cheaper on E Bay from E Cell:

I bought mine from E Cell and it is all in English, but only with a 1 year warranty and a 2 pin charger, although they send you a seperate UK charger for the phone as well. It looks to me like it is the Swedish version of the phone. |

See here.
Don't know why not; I wish NZ was getting it through official channels.

If it's not coming to the UK then why does http://www.se-store.co.uk say:
"Pre-Register - Expected launch: Feb , 09"
Not that I put much faith in keeping to launch schedules, but it is a listed phone on this site, so in theory this would suggest they will offer it. |

Interestingly enough the UK SE Store has now been updated to show this phone as being available:

- SIM Free @ £189.99
Nice, but it would be nicer to see it in the shops, pick one up and see it in action |

Quick update. Managed to pick up a UK T700 from the E Shop. Total including postage is £194. Only the Silver/Black version available though (red one would have been nice)
No additional symbols on the keys, no menu's/themes/ringtones etc in another language and all internet profiles are for UK mobile providers.
The T700 is running R3DA033 firmware.

fantastic, glad the UK got it since its such a nice phone. Java software compatible with the k800 (except for camera related stuff ) tend to run well on the t700 btw. One good example is the youtube client. |

O2 are getting it exlusively in red and gold (I think, could be red and silver, need to check the poster again...) soon for £127 + £10 top up.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |
