Hello Guys!

My current phone is a 5 year old K750i i and i loved it. but recently it's been having hickups.. and now im thinking of retiring it.. I'm not an SE fan boy (I do hate nokias though) but i am a FAN of the SE phones. and plus im used to it..

Now.. been thinking of getting the C902. then i found the C905 .. it's mighty expensive (i used to not spend over $200USD for a pone ever). But w/ it looking like a solid phone, great camera features (dont care much of the 8mp though, as i want quality not size)..

But the thing i really liked about it is.. it's a Java type phone that can do GPS and Wifi !! (i dont like the complexities and sluggishness of smartphones)

AAaaannyyyway, the reason im posting is i'd like to get feedbacks and comments about the C905.. and I wanted to know some VERY IMPORTANT things for me:

1) FLOAT's MOBILE AGENT - this software has been EXTREMELY USEFUL for me.... I can't imagine life w/o it.. I've tried many many other software, and nothing comes close to its usability.. SADLY, the developer seems to have stopped developing already.. I wanted to know if anyone has gotten the C905 to work w/ FMA ...

2) GPS - i've always wanted a GPS receiver, not for navigation but for data logging.. I've always wanted to log where i've been going, how far I have travelled, how fast I am going in my car, etc... So I need to do DATA LOGGING (ala fleet management GPS devices) rather than the usual GPS navigation (ala TOM TOMs).. can this be done on a C905?

Also GPS Receiver for my Notebook - would it also be able to work as a GPS RECEIVER for my computer? This phone is expensive, but if it saves me from having to buy a GPS Receiver separately, then im happy

3) WiFi - I'm really happy w/ this phone being JAVA, but still have WLAN capabilities! my question is speed.. how much mbps can it handle? 2mbs is all i need really.. as most ISP's around here offer less even..

4) What type of video files can it play? i heard it cant do divx.. what about mov files, avi, mpgs, 3gps?

really looking forward to some enlightening feedbacks.. Thanks!!

TJ

I'm writing this on my phone so i'm gonna take a while answering.

Gps - it logs where you connect from and you can revisit it on google maps later. It also logs your speed and stuff no the connection screen and wayfinder

Wifi - it can handle the speed of your broadband and you wont have any problem with speed

Videofiles - it can support 3gp and mp4 not avi or anything like that. Videos dont often work if they're not 240x320 resolution

Mobile program - if its just a java program it will work fine because the screen resolution is the same as the k800i.

The phone also boasts the 8.1mp camera with smile shutter and face rec (smile shutter is coming mid feb)

It can play h.264 mp4 videos (just use the iPod setting on many converters.

Wifi is very well implimented, using a tutorial I made, you can browse and add/delete files from your phone on your pc through wifi.

GPS works well for many people but some people it doesn't work well.

thank you very much for your replies. They are very much appreciated.

Few more clarifications if you don't mind me asking:

i am still eager to know if

1) will my phone work w/ Float's Mobile Agent ? (its a Windows XP based software for managing SMS of the phone via bluetooth.

http://fma.sourceforge.net/

2) GPS data logger - the BUILT IN GPS RECEIVER in the unit is a true GPS receiver yeah? BUt what functions can't it peform? just the navigational ones? I need it to act like a data logger loging my coordinates, speed, etc, every few seconds

Is there at least a software i can install on this Java phone to make use of the built in GPS Receiver in such a way?

3) GPS Receiver - can my phone act like a GPS receiver for another device like my laptop?

Lemme know guys

Thanks

2) All the gps does on the C905 is tell java apps the location of the phone, there are many applications avalible that use this data, eg. navigation, trip logging.

3) There may be a java app to do this but AFAIK there isn't. It will be possible once someone programs a java app to do that.

me and my friends visited the mall to check on the live demo unit of C905 yesterday.. I was excited! like a little boy visiting the candy shop.. but soon as i got a hold of the phone, it's like that little boy ended up in the dentist's clinic..

it was pathetically slow!!!! it's "oh my gosh" slow! .. my dream phone.. is a huge disappointment at that moment.. openning the menu.. clicking into them.. openning the sms folders, etc.. the photo browsing was fast though but everything else is just unacceptable..

I'd like to know if this is normal for the unit or if there's been firmware that made C905 faster? I'm talkin about 700-1200 milisecond delays enterring menu.. and similar figures throughout the experience (except for photo viewing)..

i'm used to my 5 year old K750i and boy did i expect i better experience on the mighty expensive C905

I have other SE loyal friends converting back to Nokia lately due to things like this, build quality, misc hardware problems, and all that at a premium price..

I love the SE brand, the value of the phones and specially the awesome cybershot capabilities!!! but im sooOOo close to jumping over after trying for myself the new Nokia 5899 expressMusic TOuch handset .. it's fast, light, small, sturdy, fully featured, expensive looking/acting phone, at such an affordable price.. if itwasnt for the ABSOLUTELY CRAPPY photos it takes this is the winner for my hard earned bucks..

so now.. im either waiting for the new SE cybershot offerings, or go ahead w/ 5800..

gosh.. i hated Nokia so much. i can't believe im heading back .. times have changed i guess..
