THIS IS A QUOTE FROM : http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=846

All of those numbers are charged, between about 15p per min and 50p per min depending on the number. O2 have recently scrapped them from inclusive allowances too, so no network offers them inclusively. Try http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk to search for the company you're trying to ring

Just as I thought then glad I didnt make the call it would've cost a fortune if I had. Me thinks that in general Mobile companys need to get a grip over this cos BT & Virgin Media allow 0800 or 0808 free to call then they should too :s

Kerry, you're missing one vital thing there that you pretty much hit on the head yourself.

BT and Virgin Media are landline companies, mobile networks are obviously not. Thats the key factor, the networks have to pay BT a subsidery to use their premium landline services. It's like mobiles cost more to call than landlines do from a BT phone.

Oh, and BT are only doing it free if you're on Option 3 (their top package).
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

LOL, your missing the point again
0800 is free from BT landline from ANY tarriff, not on mobile, 0845 and 0808 numbers are now free on BT landine, option 3, but are extremely expensive on mobile (how much dedalus, do you know please?)

I have seen lately a few companies advertising geographic numbers (0161 etc) as well as 0800 numbers so mobile users dont pay so much.
